For the last fifteen years I was on Ativan for anxiety. Gradually, I started getting prescriptions for higher dose until I was 4 mgs a day. I was needing more to keep from having attacks of anxiety and panic.
I started seeing a different psychiatrist and he was concerned with the dosage. He had me slowly cut down to where I'm now taking half a milligram a day. I have to say, the Ativan was effective and I couldn't imagine living without it.
But I found I could, with some really therapy. That does take more work but it is worth it. I doubt I will try any more medications since I have tried so many with side affects that are hard to deal with.
