I'm just starting to understand that my anxiety disorder is also connected to having OCD. A person with this disorder can't just use rational thinking to keep away intrusive, irrational thoughts.
I have never been a compulsive handwasher, but I have intrusive thoughts that I can't just "think away". There are rituals that help with the anxiety. I have learned to live with it, but it is something I don't disclose, mainly because of lame jokes there are about this disorder.
