In most mass media discussion of AI I read, the brain is presented as binary in function and separate from the body.

Perhaps because we think mostly binary in our contemporary societies, either/or, good/evil, black/white, up/down, etc....

My notion is that most of us are just like the economists that believe they are perfectly rational/logical because they dismiss the human factor from their algorithms.

We think we are rational but mostly function reactively per our programing and spend the day selectively collecting data that supports our biased world view (the scientific community included and myself or course).
