Why are so many people drawn to conspiracy theories in times of crisis?

I think this is a well written article that sheds some light on the reason / cause / root of the current divisiveness in the US. As so eagerly shown by some of the earlier comments. Thank you for providing this information in a neutral manner. Sad but not surprising that the comments are biased and miss the point of the article. I'm researching for an article on how decisions can be manipulated by framing. While this isn't quite what I was looking for. I see what I think is either motivated reasoning in the comments or confirmation bias. May be helpful in my how people tend to make subjective decisions section. People please read the article objectively, the author has taken the time and effort to not be political.
