Thank you for your post, Jeff. As you rightly point out, people make assumptions about names, often incorrectly. The president's first wife's name is "Ivanka" and his second wife is "Melania" both ending in "a." One is Check and the other Slovenian. "Ruby" was very popular in the 1920s. It is now regaining in popularity, being very popular in the English speaking countries of Europe. A quick name search suggests it is not an ethnic key for any particular culture.
