Do mean who are the real bad guys?
I think Bridget Fonda had it right: Point Of No Return(1993)
There isn't a racial remark made on the 911 tapes. What I hypothesize, is Trayvon Martins' father Robert, told Trayvon to behave this way, when attacking an adversary. That is to yell "help", while in the offensive state, not in the defensive state. Judging from the blood and bruises that the police report states, on Zimmerman.
Police are now admitting that Zimmerman "may" have used a racial slur - as in "f*****g coon." And there's a whole lot more, which you can read here and hundreds of other places.
It sounds as if he had stepped on "Dog dropping", while he was in a state of urinary retention, as he was following Martin in the dark.
If Zimmerman had blood and bruises on him, I'd like to see that picture. Zimmerman is fabricating a story and the police were too willing to believe him.
The good news is that a huge segment of the American population are backing the Martin family on this. It's time somebody stood up to the NRA. I see a lot of parallels to this story and the Sandra Fluke incident of a few weeks ago.
Look at his wounds!
You waste of air. Shut up until you KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!
Funny how no one is mentioning that Brad Zimmerman, who has a "white sounding" name is actually Hispanic. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. The guy has a "white sounding" name so he must be white and a racist.
But that is just par for the course... Only white people can be racist. No mention of psychological biases or stereotypes from any other "race." And of course using this tragedy for political purposes like attacking the NRA or the police. Even Occupy Wall Street is using it to attack the police.
Support the Martin family and investigate the crime, but stop the punditry and the race baiting. That is the true problem here. Using every excuse to push the racial agenda. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have made millions of dollars doing that.
You know, its great that racism is on the decline, I really think tho that we need to take the focus OFF of racism & put it on to DISCRIMINIATION, racism refers to a black person being discriminated against sure, but discrimination refers to both sides of the argument, I more often than not these days see discrimination of black against white, but more importantly, you talk of white person getting a job over a coloured person, put someone in a wheelchair into that factor, from personal experience... every other race will get the job before a disabled person. people of minority race get government incentives, disabled people, apart from a pitence of a pension, everythig we need to access our daily lives is inflated beyond most budgets will allow. Yes there is a small amount of racism & in Austraia it is getting worse by the day as white Australia is being out numbered by immigration, but take a look at the people that really do it hard...
It is sad that racism is still a big issue in modern society. Having said all that about racism against black people, (and I have black colleagues and personal friends, some are not Americans but from Kenya and S.A.) I have also personally been shown racism by black Americans in New York. You can be educated, speak better English than them and has a higher paying job, yet they can still show racism towards you just because I am Asian. (And mind you, I do not have the Chinese accent)but I got insulted verbally and I took it in my stride. But maybe perhaps I think I am at the losing end that was why I chose to let it slide. What if I were to voice out my displeasure against the black woman who insulted me and called me a "cheap little thing" just because I bought a bottle of coke on sale? I do not wish to get into trouble over something small like that. I am afterall, still a minority. So, it is not just the black people who gets the racism, there are others like hispanic or Asians who gets it but we are just letting it slide. Something for everyone to ponder upon the subject of racism, it is not just the world against black people. Well, this is just my personal opinion.
Most Western countries, which are historically White, have adopted mass immigration, multiculturalism, and affirmative action as a matter of State policy. And let's not forget political correctness.
The studies referenced in this article lead us to assume that the interviewers were always White. A better study would be to vary up the race of the interviewer, and country, to provide a different racially dominant profile, ie, do the study in Africa, China etc. Does anybody think that White people would really fare much differently than any other Race put into the same situation? They might actually be less racist, as they are the only race who has had to deal with large scale racial mixing. It's not even on the agenda in most non-Western countries.
Now, let's look at Obama's comment - suggesting that if he had a son, he would look like Trayvon. So? Dig a little deeper and the implications are manifold. One, this suggests that if Trayvon wasn't black, Obama would be less inclined to care. Isn't that racist against all non-Blacks? Two, if you're not Black, then your son wouldn't look like Trayvon. Does that mean you shouldn't be expected to care? The real problem with Race in the West is the unrealistic and one-sided demands being made on the host population.
And let's not forget that so far, there is zero evidence(including from this author) that even suggests this murder was racially motivated, other than the fact that Zimmerman was not Black.
Then you are ignorant of the information. Zimmerman made over 40 calls to the police to report the suspicious behavior of. . . WAIT FOR IT, black men. In one case it was even about a black child.
Do you care to change your opinion with this new COMPELLING evidence, or are you so desperate to avoid issues of racism so as not disturb your smug narrative?
Didn't Martin break Zimmerman's nose? Was Martin not on top of Zimmerman beating him? Is it not reported that it was indeed Zimmerman's screams heard on the 911 tapes? In light of that knowledge, perhaps you should also reconsider your opinion? In fact, the politically correct narrative on race and racism is what most people are attached to, and how most people attack and avoid discussion and debate with people who have differing views on those subjects. If you really want to change my mind, maybe you could have Spike Lee locate my house, and have the Black Panthers put a bounty on my head. That would be more compelling.
Apparently this author of this article is a racist or incapable of doing a simple google search to read the police report.
Citizens are allowed to investigate and even arrest people suspected of committing crimes. Zimmerman was working as a neighborhood watch citizen, and he followed a person who DID NOT BELONG in the neighborhood, no matter your skin color.
When he was ASKED, not told by the police to stop following him, he did. He did not have to, as a citizen can follow anyone in a public place, especially if they think they are up to no good.
Zimmerman had called police 40 times OVER AN 8 YEAR PERIOD, and most of them had NOTHING TO DO WITH BLACK PEOPLE and they WERE NOT ALL 911 calls. The records show he used both 911 and a non-emergency line to report a wide variety of concerns, from potholes and a stray dog to suspicious activity. YOU ARE A SHEEP!
Zimmerman was arrested and interrogated for 5 HOURS, he was treated by EMTs and was covered in blood from the wounds to the back of his head. His back was wet, and he had grass on is clothes and hair. Consistent with everything the evidence showed, which was that he was attacked and getting pummeled when he shot ONE TIME, and it was a contact wound, meaning Treyvon was within arms reach of him.
You media parrots are what is wrong with this country. The truth is Zimmerman was following a kid who had a known drug history, and was sent to stay with his father after he was expelled from having marijuana at school. One of many instances of him getting into trouble at school, and the school got tired of it and kicked him out. Mother could not handle him, and so she sent him to stay with absentee father, and both of them were guests in the neighborhood, not owners.
Treyvon got shot because he attacked Zimmerman, and Zimmerman received staples in the back of his head to close the wounds. Guess what, you don't have to have a gun to hurt or kill someone, and the law nor common sense says you have to allow someone to slam your head into the concrete simply because they are black.
Pull your heads out of the sand and quit crying because you have black skin. NOBODY CARES about your skin color, we care about your BEHAVIOR. Good riddance to the drug dealing thug!
GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT IDIOTS!
This is sad .... and SCARY! I would like to point out that President Obama had a white mother and a black father. American people tout how progressive we have become by voting for an African-American president, but have we? I have often wondered if he was 100% black would he have gotten elected.
In response to people who believe that racism is only noticed when white people commit an offense, I think this is true to a certain extent. Not only do white people make assumptions about minorities, but minorities also make these assumptious about themselves. The murder of this young man could have very well been a racist act but if it was a black male who murdered a white boy it may have been seen as expected behavior rather than racism. However, the punishment for the black officer would have been greater. Racism is still evident today in every way and everywhere. However, it is a feeling that no one individual has truly overcome in the entire nation. In today's society it doesn't matter what nationality you are, we have all accepted the fact that any race other than white is a minority and the white race is superior in today's world in so many different aspects. However, this does not mean that the white race is any better than any minority race. In every race there are good and bad people and in every race there are highly educated people and people with no education. It is up to humanity to stop being ignorant and give everyone an equal opportunity instead of letting skin color and appearance speak out first.
Why is it, when discussing racism, we never discuss the fact that many people are comfortable with, and even welcome, discrimination against themselves. People such as JEsse Jackson and Al Sharpton have made careers based wholly on teaching black americans to expect racism and profiling, and to adopt an attitude (problem) based on this expection. They have been conditioned to believe everyone is against them, and have made this uphill battle based on their race such a part of their identity (in many cases) that they are loathe to see a broader truth even when it is literally deposited into their bank accounts or written on their job applications.
Try finding a United Caucasian College Fund. Try getting a job based on Affirmative Caucasion action. Won't happen. And when people mention it, its called "racist." Its ok, of course, for so-called minorities to have these advantages they continually deny that they have access to, but when caucasians talk of having access to similar benfits, people cry racism.
Drop the race bating. Drop the hate. Stop assuming, stop acting as if, people are trying to keep you down. Minorities in this nation are given every advantage. They are given access to hiring initiatives, educational funds and special programs to which majorities have little or no access. Hell, even socialist man-child in the Whitehouse considers himself to be (American) and a member of a minority to boot.
So please, stop the crying about discrimination and disadvantage. Its become a rallying cry not for equality but for advantage, inequality and unfair bias in favor of so-called minorities. I'm sorry for what happened a few hundred years ago to people you may - or may not - have been related to. I really am, I mean that.
But using the NAACP, ACLU and other agencies to try and reverse the situation 180 degrees isn't justice. Its another form of the same oppression you purport to hate.
And for those who doubt the political agenda of such agencies - and of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson - where were those groups when people attacked Herman Cain? Where were they when one of their own needed defending?
They were busy working on the Democratic/Liberal government plantation, faithful not to a race or culture, but to a political agenda. Proof of their real motives beyond doubt.
This post was about the problem of racial bias and focused on the idea that biased behavior may exist even if people do not report or think they are biased. I specifically focused on a few (of many) research findings that support the idea that racial bias exists. I appreciate the thoughtful comments that some had in which it was clear that you read the post and considered the data. I would encourage others to try and be a little more intellectually engaged before just going on a rant using your "gut" feelings on the matter. That is why people do empirical research. We want to objectively test an idea and not simply rely on our own feelings or opinions as they may be quite biased. You might want to think that blacks face no discrimination, but the data simply do not support that position.
Not a single comment about this incident in PT yet:
