cat- canary cartoon

parakeet tries to tell cat that love is all there is

This cartoon is an example of how hopeless it can be to try to make someone love you, especially if it's a cat! And telling someone what book they should read never works well. Believe me, I've tried that. But you can always try the "I love you, too" approach.

If the caption sounds familiar, it's also a parody on the title of a bestselling book on relationships, called Men Who Hate Women and the Women Who Love Them : When Loving Hurts and You Don't Know Why, by Dr. Susan Forward.

Of course, the subject of the book is abuse, which is a serious situation. I believe this was one of the first, if not the first, pop culture books to look at the problem, so it has important information, and a place in the marketplace several years later. Still, at least one of the commenters on Amazon agrees with me that the title is a little overdone and melodramatic!

However, many birds are melodramatic, anyway.

(You might not be able to see in this version of the cartoon, but the cat has his tongue out, licking his lips. He means business.)

Here's another cat cartoon you might enjoy. There's a dog in it, too.
