
The positive recovery construct applies positive psychology, also known as the science of well-being, to the treatment of addictive disorders. The medical disease-model of treatment identifies and removes disease, but it does not promote “recovery,” which is a rich and full lifestyle that includes abstinence but is not limited to it.
