My approach to therapy recognises that culture, identity, family, migration and social expectations can profoundly shape our psychological experiences. I see these factors as an integral part of therapeutic work, rather than simply background to a client’s story.
I am particularly passionate about supporting women from culturally and linguistically diverse, Muslim and South Asian communities, including those navigating the complexities of living between cultural worlds, intergenerational expectations and evolving identities. My work acknowledges how gender, culture, family roles, faith, and belonging can influence mental health.
I use evidence-based approaches and work collaboratively from a strengths-based, person-centred and culturally responsive perspective. I support women to develop a stronger sense of self, navigate relationships and family expectations, establish healthy boundaries, and find their inner voice without losing connection to their people, values and culture.
I know how difficult it can be to ask for help, and I believe in the power of being truly listened to. For me, culturally safe practice means creating a therapeutic space where clients feel respected, understood and free from assumptions — where their cultural identity and lived experience are explored with curiosity and incorporated meaningfully in therapy
