My passion is in working with trauma, addiction, relationships, anger, grief, neurodiversity, and LGBTGIA+ topics. All topics are welcome regardless if it's controversial or taboo. I have been described as quirky/weird, eclectic, clinical, calm, funny, and inquisitive. Dark humour appreciated.
I approach things in a practical and philosophical way so that clients can have different perspectives to make decisions that are right for them. I value "informed consent": good or bad, decisions are for the client to make. It is important for my clients to have a safe space, whether they've been through a few therapists or is a first-timer.
I believe "everything is functional and everything is nuanced" and use this as a guiding principle to address unhelpful narratives in clients' lives so they can start living in a way they feel good about. I use different approaches depending on what clients need. I also value client feedback as this is about their experiences.
I collaborate with clients to find a way through. I work on building resilience, self-sufficiency, accountability, agency, boundary-setting through facilitating clients to "know thyself". I encourage clients to challenge me as much as I will challenge them; it is a mutual learning process and a meeting of "two experts": me and you.
