These patterns often begin early and follow you into adulthood.
Most of my clients come to me feeling confused, emotionally drained, and questioning themselves. On the outside, they often look like they’re coping. But inside, there’s a quiet sense of not feeling good enough, of second-guessing their needs, and of carrying patterns that don’t feel like their own. I work with women who grew up in environments where love, approval, or safety felt inconsistent. You may not have a formal label for what you experienced, but something in you knows it was difficult. That’s enough. My approach is active and collaborative. I’m not here just to listen while you vent.

You care. You've been trying, reading, pushing through on willpower, telling yourself to just cope. To everyone else, you look capable, switched on, the one people rely on. Inside, it's different: working twice as hard just to hold the shape of "fine," with no one seeing what it costs you. That's not a personal failing. The strategies that got you this far made sense, they just weren't built to carry you any further. This can look like anxiety, chronic stress, burnout, relationship strain, or a big life transition that's knocked things off balance. If that's you, you're exactly who I want to work with.

Perhaps your relationship feels stuck. Maybe the same arguments keep happening, communication has become difficult, or life simply feels heavier than it once did. Many of the people I work with are couples feeling disconnected or individuals trying to make sense of stress, relationships, or major life challenges. I also work with anxiety, life transitions and questions about where to go from here. Alongside private practice, I lecture in the Discipline of Counselling at the University of Notre Dame Australia and bring many years of experience in counselling, relationship education and family support.

I am super passionate about my work as a Counsellor after many years of working in the corporate world left me searching for a more fulfilling and meaningful career. I find that so many of my clients echo this search – in addition to wanting to address their day-to-day life struggles – they are searching for something more. And this is where I love to be, fully attentive, empathising with my clients but most of all working alongside them to explore ways of improving all aspects of their lives, be that work, relationships, childhood attachment wounds or trauma.

I love supporting people who are ready for change - if only to stop struggling alone. As an Educator and lifelong learner, myself, I enjoy nurturing students of all ages (especially neurodivergent, and 2E students). I have a real passion for working with 18-30 year olds, parents, migrants, people of faith (various faiths) and FIFO/DIDO folk. I work from simple rooms in a community setting where I can offer you a cuppa and/or we can walk in the nearby park, whatever helps you to feel safe and welcome. Or we can meet online. Individual needs are respected, I try to honour your sensory, cultural and religious needs, too.

Life is full of adversity. This can sometimes leave us feeling anxious, lost, alone and unsure of how to move forward. These feelings can be overwhelming and cause us to turn inward. However, this only further compounds the problem.

FAQ - About Adult Counselling
Why should adults see a therapist?
Adults may benefit from therapy for a wide range of reasons—whether it’s managing symptoms of a diagnosed mental health condition like anxiety or depression, navigating life transitions, coping with grief or trauma, or simply seeking support during a challenging life period. Many adults find that therapy helps them build healthier coping skills and better process their emotions, which may lead to better relationships and reduced stress. It’s important to note that, unlike psychiatrists or primary care physicians, therapists do not prescribe psychiatric medication. However, they will often work alongside prescribing clinicians to ensure coordinated care and can provide behavioural therapy as an important addition to psychiatric medication. Mental health concerns can look different in adulthood than in childhood or adolescence, so finding a therapist with expertise working with adult clients is important. Conditions like major depressive disorder (MDD), generalised anxiety disorder (GAD), bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for instance, may present or resurface differently in adulthood than in childhood or adolescence. Adult-specific stressors, such as job strain, caregiving responsibilities, relationship challenges, financial stress, or identity transitions, can also influence the onset and type of symptoms an individual experiences. Adult-focused therapists, therefore, are trained to understand these complexities and tailor care accordingly.

How do I know if a therapist is the right fit for me?
When seeking care, it’s important to understand a therapist’s treatment specialties and their overall approach to treatment . Some therapists focus on common adult conditions like anxiety or depression, while others specialize in areas such as trauma, substance use disorders, or obsessive-compulsive disorder. It’s also important to consider a therapist’s training when seeking care. Therapists in Australia hold various credentials depending on their training. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are registered with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) or the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and their qualifications and practice are overseen by these professional organisations. Psychologists must be registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) and have professional designations such as Clinical Psychologist, General Psychologist, or Counselling Psychologist. All of these professionals can provide talk therapy but do not prescribe medication. When searching for a therapist, consider their credentials and training background to ensure a good fit.

How do I find a therapist who sees adults?
Psychology Today’s online directory allows you to search specifically for therapists who work with adults. Each provider profile includes key information such as clinical specialties, therapeutic approaches, licensure, accepted insurance plans, languages spoken, and session fees. Reviewing these details can help you determine whether a particular provider aligns with your needs and can indicate whether they are a good match for adult clients.
