As a supporter of neurodiverse teens and adults, I help them embrace their uniqueness, leverage their strengths, and develop strategies to meet their goals, particularly when managing the complexities of ADHD . This condition can exacerbate issues such as low mood, anxiety, relationship stress, emotional intensity, academic or professional struggles, and daily forgetfulness.

I work with: anxiety and depression, difficulty adjusting to a life challenge or a life change, traumatic life events, difficult events in childhood, recovery from bullying, workplace issues, relationship problems, adjustment to diagnosis of ADHD and/or Autism, parents of children with disabilities and medical conditions.
I love being a psychologist. It’s a genuine pleasure and joy to work with people, to be invited to hear about their lives, their challenges and what they want for themselves. In working with people, I’m interested in tailoring therapy to each individual client. I recognise that every person has their unique way of being in the world and way of looking at the world, and so will have their own needs and wants in how therapy will work for them.

I work with adults, teens, children and families struggling with; worries, stress and mood disturbances, ADHD , personality adaptations (disorders), and traumatic life challenges.
I take great pride in being a psychologist and witnessing the people I meet move towards mental well-being. I understand that each person is individual and unique, so therapeutic approaches are tailored to your needs. At times, my clients are learning new skills and strategies, at others therapy may simply be having a safe space to hold emotions or to detangle distressing thoughts. Having practiced as a counsellor and psychologist over the past 20 years with many different populations and diverse needs, I bring to therapy a breadth of experience that may suit you also.

It is a thoroughly researched and tested therapy which has proven to be effective with personality disorders, anxiety, depression, ADHD , eating disorders and addictions.
I work with highly sensitive people who struggle with intense emotions and their aftermath. Sometimes they may feel like they are feeling everything, all at once, at other times nothing at all. They may have experienced a big trauma, or lots of little ones. My clients come to learn how to navigate the emotional highs and lows, be a better friend and partner (and find better friends and partners) and overcome their difficulties to build a life that is meaningful and rich to them. I work with adolescents and their families and adults of all ages. I also work with carers (family and friends) of people with mental health challenges.

I welcome youth (16-25 years), adults and older adults, Veterans/First Responders/Health Professionals and LGBTIQ+ people. I also welcome First Nations Australians, and have trained working with First Nations Australians, particularly Whadjuk Noongar people in whose land I work and live. I do not currently see couples or family groups for counselling, and do not undertake court-ordered, family court or forensic assessments and reports as I feel these are best completed by clinicians who are specially trained in these areas.

I am a Counselling Psychologist, and have experience working with clients across the lifespan. I work with adolescents, young adults and adults to help them in understanding themselves and others. Deciding to access counselling is often a big decision and it can take a while to find a psychologist that you feel safe, comfortable and at ease with, someone "who really gets you" so to speak. I am able to work with clients who are experiencing mild to acute mental health issues and have experience working in a more acute inpatient setting.

I am a compassionate and caring therapist dedicated to helping my clients gain clarity and resolve the issues they are facing through an integrative approach to therapy. I offer my clients a unique dual approach to therapy, involving psycho-education as well as a therapeutic approach. I view these as two sides of a coin, one helps address the issues that are presenting, whilst the other builds knowledge and skills to gain insight and change attitude and behaviour towards more positive outcomes.

ADHD Counsellors

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioural therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
