People come for all sorts of reasons, this is a safe space for all! Some are going through something specific. Others are in a good place and want to understand themselves better, grow, or finally make a change they've been putting off. Athletes come to work on the mental side of performance. Professionals come when work has started to cost them something. Some people just want a space to think, with someone who'll actually listen. We will use evidence-based practice as our foundation, weaving in a more holistic feel so that therapy is a nuturing and soothing experience.

My practice is for adults who are curious about themselves, their relationships with others and the world around them. You may be feeling stuck or overwhelmed, searching for meaning/purpose. Perhaps you’re living with chronic symptoms that no one else can see or understand. You might be trying to cope with the uncertainty of a recent diagnosis, or the grief following a significant loss. Working together we approach your challenges, not only as sources of difficulty, but as meaningful opportunities for deeper self understanding, an opportunity to explore new perspectives, consider changes, and support thoughtful action.

I'm a registered Clinical Psychologist with over 25 years' experience helping clients deal with anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationship issues, workplace bullying, recovery from trauma and family of origin issues.
Toxic workplaces take their toll. It can take less than 6 months to develop a psychological injury as a result of being constantly undermined, criticised, white-anted and excluded. It may take even longer before you recognise it as "workplace bullying". Now your back is against the wall. You can't leave because you need the income, but you also want to quit. You're full of self-doubt. I've had over 30 years of helping targets of bullying, at work and at home. I will back you every step of the way, and help guide you through the worker's comp process as you begin your emotional recovery while working towards a positive outcome.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
