Complex trauma at any age can make understanding ourselves, our reactions, painful emotions, and relationships mystifying. I'm registered with Blue Knot Foundation as a trauma informed therapist. If you have anxiety or depression symptoms, anger or hurt, I have been working beside people who want to manage and reduce these issues since the 20th century. I'll do my best to give you tools to use right from your first visit. If you are in a remote area I can provide sessions via Signal/Zoom. I know a lot about family and domestic violence and how people can come back from what happened to them or even from what they did to others.

Good Game Counselling
Counsellor, ACA-L3
Serves Area
We meet clients inside the games they love such as Minecraft, Roblox and Fortnite because side-by-side beats face-to-face for most neurodivergent brains.
Our ideal clients are autistic, ADHD, and AuDHD young people, often described as "hard to engage," "shut down," or "burnt out." Many have tried traditional talk therapy and found it overwhelming, boring, or unsafe. They come to us because parents, support coordinators, or schools recognise that the usual format isn't working. We meet them inside the games they love (Minecraft, Roblox, Fortnite, Discord) using play and shared interest to build genuine trust. From there, we support regulation, identity, RSD, school distress, and burnout recovery in a way that respects how their brain actually works.

I have found that young people, in particular, enjoy the experience of movement while talking, and sometimes feel more comfortable talking side-by-side, rather than sitting face-to-face in a clinical setting.
At Walk and Talk Psychology we work in an outdoor space. Our psychology sessions take place whilst walking along the beach or foreshore, or sitting under the shade of a tree. If you prefer a unrushed atmosphere, tailored to your needs and pace, this type of counseling may be helpful for you. The relaxed, calming environment and the light exercise enables more creative problem solving and and enhanced mental flexibility. I am passionate about teaching people how to recognise and to regulate their emotional responses, develop a positive sense of self, problem solve situations, and build their resilience for the future.

I enjoy working alongside adults and adolescents who are experiencing distress in everyday life. My goal is to help clients to develop a better understanding of the origins of problem behaviours so that they are able to make changes that go beyond symptom relief. I believe that therapy is a time for self-reflection and gentle persuasion to confront those issues that hurt us and prevent us from moving forward in life.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
