Doing life can be hard and sometimes overwhelms us. Loss of control and enjoyment of life can bring trauma and challenges. I believe everyone can regain hope and restoration to live a fulfilling life. My life experiences include secondary-school teaching; as a husband and dad in raising a now-adult family; pastoral care; Christian counselling; and alcohol and drug counselling.

I am a psychologist with my own lived experience of neurodiversity, which has shaped both my understanding and the way I connect with others in therapy. I understand that reaching out for support can feel overwhelming, especially when things have been difficult for some time. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in creating a space where people feel safe, heard, and understood without judgement. I work alongside children, adolescents, adults, and families in a practical and compassionate way that respects each person’s unique experiences, strengths, and pace of change.

I draw from schema work, IFS, ACT, art therapy and other creative processes, but I don't use a 'one size fits all' approach.
I offer trauma‑informed, neuroaffirming counselling and psychotherapy for neurodivergents (Autistic, ADHD, AuDHD, Gifted, PDA‑ish, 2e and otherwise‑neurodivergent), teens, adults and families with complex inner worlds. People often see me when they’re worn out from burnout or shutdown, overwhelm and anxiety, questioning or late‑identified neurodivergent, parenting intense kids, moving through teen overwhelm, or feeling strain in relationships across different neurotypes

I love working with anyone who has engaged with the human experience, so everyone!
When there is someone who is willing to sit across from me and share in whatever way they are ready, what support they need or how they are struggling or their goals and passions and the perceived barriers to achieving them, I am willing to work with. I believe this process is not about leading a person to where they are going but walking alongside them. I do like to challenge clients where it makes sense as I am of the belief that therapy is action based and cannot just rely on the talking and the reflection but needs to be complimented with action.

I provide a safe, open, and mobile space for children, adolescents, and families to navigate life’s most complex challenges. My practice is deeply person-centered, focusing on the "person-in-environment"—because I believe that for change to be sustainable, it has to work in the real world, not just a clinic room.
How I Work Differently:
I Come to You: I remove the barriers to care by offering sessions in your home or school across Perth (Applecross to Mandurah). Meeting families where they are most comfortable reduces anxiety and builds trust faster.

Art Therapy
How does art therapy work?
The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.
Does art therapy help with trauma?
Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.
How long does art therapy last?
The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.
What are the limitations of art therapy?
Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioural therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
