Hi! I'm Ellie.
Starting therapy can be scary, especially if you don’t know what it's like or what to expect. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or just need a space to talk, I offer a calm, compassionate, and non-judgemental environment where you can feel safe to open up, at your own pace.
My goal is to understand you, to help bring about meaningful change. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, low mood, neurodivergence, or life changes, we can work together to explore what’s going on and develop strategies and tools that feel relevant for you.

I like to work in an honest environment where sessions are collaborative and unique to each client. I believe developing a strong therapeutic bond is important to progress and essential to a positive therapeutic experience where clients feel safe, heard, comfortable and confident in giving feedback. I am authentic, caring and friendly but am also direct when needed and not afraid to ask the hard questions, delve into difficult conversations or address the unconscious issues. I like to work across a range of areas such as depression, anxiety, OCD, relationship issues, ADHD and complex trauma.

Coming to therapy can be daunting so it is important to me to make sure I get to know you and what you want from the experience. I am an open person with a keen interest in birds, video games and a wry sense of humour who is happy to discuss the absurdities of life. I generally work with ADHD, trauma, adjustment difficulties, grief and loss, anxiety, depression and much more. I am passionate about working with neurodiverse people in particular to help improve day-to-day function, meet goals, and improve overall wellbeing. I can provide assessment for neurodiversity for those who are unsure or wanting to find out more.

Including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing ( EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Schema Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Interpersonal Psychotherapy.
I am genuine, direct, open and also have a sense of humour (though it is twisted/cynical/dark). I work best when you feel comfortable, if that means we swear a lot in session - I am happy to make that sacrifice! I work clients across many areas from complex trauma, relationship issues, anxiety, depression and workplace issues.
I believe it is important to work with clients - not dictate to them. My preferred treatment method is to focus on the areas that you want to work on. I believe a partnership not a prescription is important. Sticking to values means more than putting them on a website - it means actually living them.

You can pause here for a moment. Perhaps something in your life or relationships has become difficult to make sense of, or you’ve found yourself caught in patterns that leave you feeling disconnected, overwhelmed or unsure of what you need. Maybe intimacy, sexuality or connection has become complicated, or experiences from the past are affecting how you relate to yourself or others. You might not have the words yet, that’s okay. I work with my clients to slow things down, build safety first and individualise the therapeutic process, to create space to explore what’s stuck, heavy or simply needing care and attention.

Hi, I'm Donna. I am originally from Ireland and have worked in in mental health services since 2009. I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in Liverpool in 2017 and now work in private practice in Perth, Australia. I have a particular interest in trauma and PTSD, and supporting adults with anxiety and depression. I know it can feel daunting to take the first step to reach out for support, so I aim to offer a calm, compassionate, and non-judgemental space where you can feel safe to explore your experiences, make sense of what you’ve been through, and gently build the skills and understanding needed for meaningful healing.

Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.
Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.
What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.
What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimising its ability to trigger anxiety.
