I believe that healing and personal growth are not only possible, but brings freedom! We all have issues we struggle with at times. I like being able to help people feel confident enough to look within themselves, and their relationships, and to work towards the life they desire.

Welcome. My name is Samantha, but most people call me Sami. I'm a social worker, certified clinical trauma professional and somatic therapist specialising in counselling for adults who have experienced trauma, abuse or grief. I've dedicated the last few years to working with people with complex trauma, walking alongside them in their journey to return to wholeness. If you would like to work with me, we take a collaborative approach; a blend of talking therapy, mindful awareness and somatic inquiry to reduce any trauma symptoms you might be experiencing that are holding you back from living a full, joyful life.

I am a clinical psychologist who has developed a passion for working with adolescents (12+) and adults, anxiety, depression, voice hearing, psychosis, and emotional dysregulation.
My therapeutic approach is tailored to the individual and is influenced by Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy and Compassion-based Therapy. Above all, I firmly believe that the therapeutic relationship is the most important aspect of therapy.

I work with late-diagnosed neurodivergent woman who may be feeling overwhelmed, misunderstood, or burnt out from masking and trying to fit into systems that weren’t built for them. I help others to gain clarity, self-acceptance, and develop customised practical strategies to support mental health and daily functioning. It is my hope that others leave my sessions feel empowered, inspired, and connected, ready to live a life that finally feels like theirs.

As women, daily challenges and mental load, along with experiences in an ever-evolving world, can create a sense of discord and misalignment within our minds and bodies. Ultimately, we give no space to our internal dialogue or dreams for better, more fulfilled minds and bodies. Stress, strain, trauma, and complicated emotions get pushed deep below the surface while we simply crack on with all that we need to do. Our early childhoods, adolescence, and attachments weave a thread throughout our lives, leaving us with questions we don't have the answers to. I offer safety to express your desires, dreams, emotions and more.

Psychosis Counsellors

What’s the most effective treatment for psychosis?

The most effective treatment for psychosis is coordinated specialty care. In this model, a team of professionals works with a patient to address all aspects of the underlying disorder. This approach incorporates individual or group therapy, employment and education support, family support and education, medication management (which often involves low doses of antipsychotics), and case management to facilitate problem-solving as needed.

When should people seek treatment for psychosis?

People should seek immediate treatment at the earliest indication of psychosis. Symptoms include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized or blocked speech, and agitated body movements. Early signs that a person may be developing a disorder that will lead to psychosis include suspiciousness of others, memory problems and distractibility, an inability to think clearly, rapid or nonsensical speech, withdrawal from friends or family, aggression toward others, and sensitivity to bright lights or noises.

What if psychosis is left untreated?

Without treatment, psychosis can have significant repercussions, including injuries, job loss, homelessness, financial or legal trouble, ruptured relationships, and suffering for the person and their family. While early treatment for psychosis often yields the best results, there is no point past which it becomes useless to seek treatment. At any point, treatment can make a difference.

How do I get someone else to seek treatment for psychosis?

It’s extremely difficult to watch a loved one suffer from hallucinations, delusions, and other elements of psychosis—sometimes exacerbated by their fears of treatment. Have a conversation with them in a quiet space and maintain a calm, supportive tone. Share your concerns about behaviors you’ve observed, suggest treatment, and explain the potential benefits. Listen carefully to their responses. The person may not be ready after one conversation, but with time, they may come around.
