Internal Family Systems (IFS) Psychologists and Therapists in Highgate, WA
Using EMDR and Internal Family Systems ( IFS), I work with clients to explore how early experiences and relationships shape present-day emotions, patterns, and difficulties — and to gradually process and integrate what's been carried for a long time.
I provide weekly or fortnightly therapy rather than short-term or crisis support. I accept clients from age 15, though my work is primarily with adults. I see clients under a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) with Medicare rebates, as well as private health rebates, with an out-of-pocket gap per session.

Using trauma-informed processes, including Internal Family Systems ( IFS), Parts Therapy, we address what is blocking freedom and support lasting, meaningful change.
My ideal clients are people who feel stuck, unsettled, or weighed down by patterns they do not fully understand, often linked to childhood wounds, trauma, or shame. They may function well on the outside but struggle internally with anxiety, reactivity, relationship difficulties, or a lack of inner authority. They want clarity, emotional steadiness, and lasting change, not just coping strategies. Above all, they are seeking a safe, trustworthy space to speak honestly and be understood without judgement.

You've done the work. You can name your patterns, explain where they came from, and describe exactly what they cost you. That understanding is real. It just hasn't changed how you feel, and that gap — between knowing and feeling — is where most talk therapy stops.
I'm a psychotherapist with a Master of Psychotherapy and Counselling from Western Sydney University and membership with the Australian Counselling Association. I work with high-functioning women who are not new to therapy and are still stuck somewhere insight doesn't reach.

Life can sometimes feel confusing or out of sync — whether you’re facing anxiety, low mood, relationship challenges, or simply feeling uncertain about what’s next. Therapy can be a space for curiosity and growth: a chance to better understand yourself, deepen emotional intelligence, or live with greater authenticity and connection. Whatever brings you here, therapy offers a supportive space to pause, reflect, and move toward clarity, ease and flourishing.

Mission: using a pragmatic, focused, and no bullshit approach with compassion and empathy to help you move forward, change your attitude, do something different, and make a commitment. I use my somatic training to increase your body awareness and emotional connection to self. We may find answers to questions or we may realize the questions no longer have meaning. Let’s alter the story and create change, movement, release, engagement, and find joy again. If you are desperately ready to change, at that tipping point, ready to do whatever it takes and not need to have it make sense or know the why, reach out.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists
What is Internal Family Systems therapy?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.
How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.
Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.
How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
