I like to work in an honest environment where sessions are collaborative and unique to each client. I believe developing a strong therapeutic bond is important to progress and essential to a positive therapeutic experience where clients feel safe, heard, comfortable and confident in giving feedback. I am authentic, caring and friendly but am also direct when needed and not afraid to ask the hard questions, delve into difficult conversations or address the unconscious issues. I like to work across a range of areas such as depression, anxiety, OCD, relationship issues, ADHD and complex trauma.

I love being a psychologist. It’s a genuine pleasure and joy to work with people, to be invited to hear about their lives, their challenges and what they want for themselves. In working with people, I’m interested in tailoring therapy to each individual client. I recognise that every person has their unique way of being in the world and way of looking at the world, and so will have their own needs and wants in how therapy will work for them.

I specialise in supporting individuals to develop a healthier, more compassionate relationship with food, their bodies, and themselves. I can support you in addressing eating concerns, body image issues, low self-esteem, perfectionism, anxiety, people-pleasing and unresolved trauma. My aim is to help you minimise self-doubt, explore the origins of body shaming and how it shows up in your life and start living a life that feels more like your own. I offer a space where you can feel truly heard. A space where you can be unfiltered, honest, and completely yourself; free from the feeling of needing to have it all figured out.

I create a space where trust and connection lay the foundation for therapy. With compassion and presence, I guide you to explore and embrace all parts of yourself. In a world focused on quick fixes, I prioritise deeper healing. Therapy with me is not just about symptom relief but about uncovering emotional wounds, protective behaviours, and patterns shaped by past experiences. I believe we all have a wise, compassionate core self, capable of restoring balance. Therapy is about reconnecting with this true self, healing past hurts, and creating healthier, more authentic ways of living.

So many of us go through life with the invisible pain of not feeling “enough.” It can show up in our relationship with food and our bodies, in the pressure of parenting, in being "highly sensitive" or the vulnerable and tender season of postpartum life. Sometimes it feels like no matter what we do, it’s never quite good enough. This is the space where I work. I support women, parents, and young people Australia wide who feel alone and tired of battling their bodies, doubting their worth, or feeling overwhelmed by the weight of expectations or unbearable thoughts and feelings, whilst trying to hold it all in. I see your tears.

Do emotions sometimes become too painful and overwhelming? Taking that first step to contact someone for help can be very difficult. Establishing a caring therapeutic relationship attuned to individual needs is central to Susanna’s work. As research supports, the therapeutic relationship is the most powerful determinant of a positive outcome in psychotherapy. Susanna encourages her clients to explore and become aware how early experiences shape their present thoughts and behaviours. Gaining a greater understanding of their circumstances, allows for an empowered sense of their ability to create positive change.

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
