I have experience working with a range of patients (older adolescents and adults) with mood disorders,
grief
and
loss
, life transition and adjustment issues, disorders of the self, and complex trauma.
Navigating the seasons of life on your own can sometimes get tricky. As you do your best to make sense of it all that seems too much or out of control, having a listening ear as you work through it can be helpful. I believe the struggles with our inner world can get overwhelming at times, and it can be renegotiated to lead a meaningful life. A significant part of my work as a registered clinical psychologist is offering psychological exploration and support to patients in a mutual effort to understand themselves better and work through how they can relate more intimately to themselves and others.

Counselling can help you address depression, anxiety,
grief
, workplace dynamics and substance abuse.
I am a practiced counsellor, most of my experience is in trauma and relationships. My job is to build a comfortable and safe space for you to explore any issues that may be holding you back from creating the life and connections you long for. My experience is that we all have the same longing for intimacy and community but that our ability to create this in the world can be compromised by our early experiences, affecting how we relate to ourselves and others. Working with couples and individuals we can explore what stands in your way and how to begin to move through these barriers to build the life of your potential.

Regardless of age, being a woman in today's world is complex. Workplace relations, career choices, relationships, families, ageing parents, domestic violence, menopause, ill health, ageing,
loss
, and too many responsibilities, can take their toll leaving many feeling drained, anxious, and down. When life's demands are onerous, it's easy to get stuck and lose sight of something better. I know the toll that tough challenges can take. I know the toll that women's conditioned ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving, can have on hope, faith, and trust in themselves. Being heard, fresh insights, and realisations change that.

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
