Many of the men and couples I work with have spent years trying to hold everything together. They may be living with anxiety, burnout, loneliness, relationship difficulties, or questions about identity and belonging. Some are navigating coming out later in life, open relationships, intimacy concerns, or changing family dynamics. Others simply want a place where they do not have to explain what it means to be a gay or queer man. Together we explore what is keeping them stuck, reduce the impact of shame and self-criticism, and build greater confidence, connection and emotional wellbeing.

Many of the men we work with aren’t in crisis. They’re capable, driven and doing well on paper. But something isn’t working. You might be shutting down in conflict, carrying quiet anger, feeling disconnected from your partner, or unsure who you are outside of work and responsibility. You want to show up better in your relationships, feel more steady in yourself, and stop repeating patterns you know aren’t working. You may have tried pushing through on your own. Now you’re ready for structured support that actually translates into real conversations, real decisions and real change.

If you’ve found yourself here, chances are something important isn’t feeling right—maybe in your relationship, your sense of self, or both. Whether you’re in a new relationship or have been together for decades, it’s common to feel stuck, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward. And it’s not always easy to open up to friends, family, or even your partner. I offer a warm, collaborative space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported as we work together to create meaningful, lasting change—emotionally, mentally, and in the way you connect with others. Therapy isn’t about fixing you—it’s about supporting you.

Counselling and coaching for blokes stuck in no man's land. You've got the job, the family, the toys. You should be happy, and you're not. You probably can't name why. There's anger that shows up out of nowhere, a relationship that's slowly falling apart, a sense of drifting, or a low-grade dissatisfaction that doesn't go away. You've probably tried to sort it on your own. Read a book. Changed your training. Had a weekend away. Things settled for a bit, then the same patterns came back. You're wondering if talking to someone might actually help.

If that sounds like you, connect with me today and let’s journey together. You are worth it! Samway Consulting (formerly Samway Counselling Services) is an online counselling service that aims to create a safe, nonjudgmental space for you to talk, unpack and unload.

You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from yourself or others. Perhaps you're navigating grief, anxiety, identity concerns, or the pressure to keep everything together while struggling inside. You want clarity, relief, and to feel more like yourself again. You’re seeking space to talk openly, be heard without judgement, and explore what matters to you with someone who will walk alongside you, not direct you. You're not broken you just need a place to be understood.

Many of the people I work with appear capable and functional, yet may privately feel stuck, lost, or unsure of who they are becoming. You may find yourself repeating the same patterns in relationships, being the rescuer, carrying the responsibility for everyone else or feeling frustrated that your own needs remain unclear and unmet. You may struggle with ADHD symptoms, confusing feelings, self-doubt, or a quiet sense that life is not unfolding in the way you hoped. I work primarily with people feeling strain in relationships, identity conflict, cultural or faith expectations, and questions about meaning and direction.

Many of the people I work with are capable, thoughtful, and exhausted from holding it together for a long time. They live with anxiety, grief, the long aftermath of trauma, or the quiet disconnection that comes from years of carrying more than felt sustainable. Couples come looking for somewhere to put down the weight of recurring conflict, distance, or ruptures that have not healed on their own. Many have already had therapy that did not quite reach them. They want a practitioner whose understanding of what they are carrying does not stop at the textbook.

My ideal client seeks transformation beyond conventional therapy. They often face trauma, anxiety, depression, or transitions, and may feel disconnected from their body. I enjoy working in-depth with people to work towards addressing the root cause of where they are stuck. This may involve psychedelic integration work, somatic work, parts work - or simply be a process of ongoing and earnest reflection. My approach is about supporting people to deepen their own self-understanding - whether as a seeker looking for spiritual connection, or to address their mental health - our work together is about deep introspection.

Men's Issues Therapists
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
