Hi, I’m Andréa from Calectasia Counselling. Life can be demanding - especially when you’re doing your best to hold everything together outside of the city and far from the support you need. I offer a safe, confidential space online where you can slow down, make sense of what’s happening, and reconnect with what really matters to you. I’ve lived and travelled throughout regional and remote Western Australia, so I understand the unique challenges of distance, isolation, and community expectations.

Psychologist, MPsych, PsyBA - Clin. Psych

I help with anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout, grief, relationship difficulties and alcohol or substance concerns, drawing from CBT, ACT, Schema Therapy, DBT skills and EMDR.
Many people come to therapy while still functioning on the outside, but privately feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, burnt out, ashamed or unsure how much longer they can keep carrying things alone. My ideal clients are people who want more than a quick coping tip: they want to understand themselves, break long-standing patterns and make practical, lasting change. Therapy with me is collaborative, respectful and clear. We make sense of what is happening, identify what keeps it going, and build a way forward that is realistic for your life.

Mission: using a pragmatic, focused, and no bullshit approach with compassion and empathy to help you move forward, change your attitude, do something different, and make a commitment. I use my somatic training to increase your body awareness and emotional connection to self. We may find answers to questions or we may realize the questions no longer have meaning. Let’s alter the story and create change, movement, release, engagement, and find joy again. If you are desperately ready to change, at that tipping point, ready to do whatever it takes and not need to have it make sense or know the why, reach out.

I'm Thérèse (Ter-ase), a counsellor working on Wadjuk Noongar Country. I work with adults and teenagers living with anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma. You might not be sure how to describe what you're carrying. Maybe it doesn't seem "bad enough" for therapy, or maybe it's something you've never said out loud. These are sometimes the experiences which hold us back from living life to its full potential, and they are welcome here.

Whether it be related to relationships, health issues, work challenges, traumatic experiences or unhelpful thoughts, not one of us is without stress. Fortunately, there are many evidence-based techniques to choose from which can relieve stress or help to manage the anxiety, poor concentration, addictions, relationship strain, sleep problems or depression that come along with it.

I use an evidenced based approach integrating approaches from CBT, DBT and ACT.
Are you a woman who’s worked hard to build your career but still feels like you don’t fully belong — no matter how much you achieve? Maybe you’re juggling so many roles — leader, colleague, partner, mother, friend — that it feels impossible to show up as your best self in every area. You might find yourself lying awake with worry, feeling constant pressure to “get it right,” or feeling lonely and disconnected despite being surrounded by people. You want to feel calmer and more confident. You want practical ways to manage anxiety and low moods. You want to feel more present — in your work, with your loved ones, and with yourself.

Dialectical Behaviour (DBT) Therapists
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behaviour and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behaviour, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioural change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behaviour; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
