If you have anxiety or depression symptoms, anger or hurt, I have been working beside people who want to manage and reduce these issues since the 20th century.
As I'm a Medicare provider you may be able to claim a rebate for individual sessions if you bring a mental healthcare plan from your GP. If you seek relationship counselling I have been skilling couples for many years. Some private health fund members can claim using their receipt as well.

I work with clients with anxiety, depression, trauma and eating disorders.
Are you feeling overwhelmed, burnt out or emotionally exhausted, even though you might appear to be coping on the outside? You may be living with the impacts of past trauma or be struggling with food, body image or self-worth. You may notice the way you're feeling is impacting your relationships and finding that willpower alone isn’t enough to shift what’s happening underneath. I am a registered psychologist in private practice and I specialise in helping people who are ready to move beyond simply “coping” and who want to understand and change the deeper patterns that keep them stuck.

I am a clinical psychologist and nutritionist with a passion for helping clients with range of difficulties such as sleeping problems, anxiety, depression, disordered eating patterns, weight management, stress, trauma, and poor self-esteem.
My primary therapeutic approach is Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), which is an emotion-focused approach which helps clients understand and address their core emotional problems. This is done by acquainting clients with the automatic, and usually unconscious, behaviours that maintain their problems and/or anxiety.

My training and experience in various issues such as family and relationship dynamics, interpersonal issues, grief and loss, family and domestic violence, various forms of trauma, depression, anxiety, parent-teen conflict and migration enables me to empathize with my clients, making them feel heard and understood.
In the area of couples counselling, I provide pre-martial support, uncoupling (which can include assisting with coming up with agreements for custody matters and asset separation). This option is only for clients who are amicable but would like to support from a neutral person to facilitate an agreement and strengthening the partnership/marriage.

If you are feeling stuck in exhausting cycles or simply trying to survive the day, you deserve a space where you can feel seen, heard, and supported to grow. I work closely with adults navigating complex emotional patterns, severe stress, burnout, trauma, and mood or personality challenges. I look beyond basic surface fixes. Together, we safely explore the root causes of what is holding you back, helping you move past just "getting by" so you can reconnect with your own resilience.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
