You might be longing for a safe place to talk about what matters most to you —your feelings, your relationships, or how to live more authentically. Many of the people I see have had recent feelings of anxiety, reactivity, or disconnection, some carrying painful memories from their past. Others who see me are looking to build closer emotional connections, express themselves more freely, or explore their identity and creativity. Some are in non-traditional relationships and value a therapist who can meet them with openness and respect. My clients often share a hope of feeling more connected, grounded, and true to themselves.

I work with adults and adolescents seeking a calmer, more balanced way of experiencing their thoughts, emotions, and overall well-being. Many people I see experience anxiety, low mood, stress, or trauma-related difficulties, as well as mind-body concerns such as gut-brain symptoms (including IBS), disrupted sleep, and chronic pain, including persistent headaches and migraines, where medical causes have been appropriately assessed.

When life feels stuck, many try to push through alone — until emotions like fear, anger, guilt, unworthiness or confusion become too heavy. I offer a safe, private space to talk, ask important questions, and explore options at your own pace. While I’m passionate about helping couples and families, I often begin by supporting individuals on their journey toward clarity through contemplation, dialogue, explore options before strengthening to a healthier self/relationship. Growth begins with one step — and I’m here to walk alongside you.

There may be issues in your personal life with relationships or your health. You may have a disability, leaving you feeling stigmatised and isolated. Alternatively, you may be experiencing forensic/criminal matters and you need a report for court, or you are required to engage in counselling. I have 20 years of experience helping people address a range of concerns.

My ideal client is a leader — a Pastor, executive, or senior manager — who has given everything to their role, only to find themselves burnt out, betrayed, or quietly falling apart. They've experienced abuse, toxic organisational culture, or trauma they haven't yet named. They're high-functioning on the outside, isolated on the inside. They want to be believed, understood, and helped to rebuild — without losing themselves in the process. They're ready to do the hard work, and they need someone who truly gets the cost of leadership.

My interest and passion for health care began in my early adolescence as a volunteer at a school for children with special needs. In the years that followed I worked with people on the spectrum with high behavioural needs and also in group homes for people with chronic and severe mental illness. I then trained as a Clinical Psychologist and continued to deepen my experience and passion in the 20+ years I have worked with NSW Health in a number of different of roles. I now work with people across a broad range of issues as listed.

I am dedicated to creating a safe space for clients free from judgement. I believe it is important that each person feels heard, understood and supported during their therapeutic journey, and I endeavour to make this a reality. I also take time in the first session to establish goals and discuss expectations of therapy. Working from a client-centred approach means it is important to me that clients can select the focus of sessions at a pace that is right for them. This often involves collaboration in order to work through issues, discerning underlying difficulties for sustained change, finding meaning, or enhancing strengths.

While it's natural to engage in pleasurable activities & behaviours, when that engagement becomes compulsive, overwhelming, and out-of-control, the negative consequences can become destructive & unmanageable, especially when addicted to Sex & Porn. We sometimes adopt these behaviours as a means of gaining momentary relief from any pain, anxiety, or trauma that exists in our lives, but regularly feel intense shame and despair after acting out sexually. Then, shame & isolation serve to maintain the addictive cycle, as the problem becomes more complex & often impacts our intimate partner. Don't despair: Help and recovery is available!

I understand that people seeking assistance have issues that are unique to themselves rather than just a diagnosis. My approach is more 'what has happened that has led to this point in your life' rather than what is wrong with you. Whether the issues relate to addiction, trauma, anxiety, depression or complex family situations, I focus upon how we can work together to effect meaningful change.

Looking for a safe, supportive space to move past what's keeping you stuck in life? We'll work collaboratively to break unhelpful patterns and rewrite limiting narratives. While we can't change the past, we can transform how it affects you today. Psychology sessions with me are integrative drawing from CBT, ACT, DBT, EMDR, IFS, and narrative therapy—grounded in trauma and developmental theory. There is no one-size-fits-all model of therapy so I've spent the last 20 years gathering ideas and strategies from various approaches.

My clients are adults carrying something for a long time without a name for it. Functioning on the outside. Holding careers, relationships, and families together. But underneath, something keeps surfacing in the same patterns, the same arguments, the same sleepless nights. Many are navigating major transitions. A career change. A relationship ending. A move across countries or cultures. Some carry the invisible weight of expectations that were never theirs to own. All of them have reached a point where something has to shift. I work with them to find what is underneath. Not to fix them. To help them finally see themselves clearly.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
