I provide in-person counselling in Perth and online counselling across Australia and beyond.
Perhaps your relationship feels stuck. Maybe the same arguments keep happening, communication has become difficult, or life simply feels heavier than it once did. Many of the people I work with are couples feeling disconnected or individuals trying to make sense of stress, relationships, or major life challenges. I also work with anxiety, life transitions and questions about where to go from here. Alongside private practice, I lecture in the Discipline of Counselling at the University of Notre Dame Australia and bring many years of experience in counselling, relationship education and family support.

I offer therapy in person in Balcatta, Perth and also work with clients around Australia via telehealth.
I work with teens (16+) and adults who feel anxious, overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, stuck in unhelpful patterns, or disconnected from themselves and their lives. Many of the people I support struggle with perfectionism, burnout, overthinking, self-criticism, people pleasing, or feeling “not good enough.” I also have a special interest in eating disorders, trauma, and neurodivergence. Therapy can be a space to slow down, better understand yourself, build emotional steadiness, and reconnect with the life you want to live.

In person, online, walk & talk
I offer a calm, grounded, and non-judgemental environment for people navigating anxiety, depression, addiction, grief and loss, and life transitions. Many come to therapy experiencing challenges with self-esteem, relationships, motivation, or addictive patterns, and may feel caught in recurring cycles or unsure how to move forward. My approach focuses on helping clients slow down, make sense of what they are experiencing, and better understand the patterns underlying their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Together, we work to build insight, strengthen coping, and create meaningful, sustainable change.

Available for in person sessions in our comfortable rooms in Osborne Park with free parking.
I am genuine, direct, open and also have a sense of humour (though it is twisted/cynical/dark). I work best when you feel comfortable, if that means we swear a lot in session - I am happy to make that sacrifice! I work clients across many areas from complex trauma, relationship issues, anxiety, depression and workplace issues. I believe it is important to work with clients - not dictate to them. My preferred treatment method is to focus on the areas that you want to work on. I believe a partnership not a prescription is important. Sticking to values means more than putting them on a website - it means actually living them.

I specialise in ADHD Assessment and therapeutic intervention. My work focuses on diagnostic assessment and treatment for neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD and Autism in school-aged children, teens, and adults. My assessments are not only informed by interviews but also by testing that makes comparisons with people of similar age and gender to help inform whether the behaviours represent "full" ADHD, autism, only traits of the condition, or are masking other areas of concern. On a personal note, I am a sport's tragic, with a passion for Australian cricket and for the St. George-Illawarra Dragons NRL team.

Looking for a safe, supportive space to move past what's keeping you stuck in life? We'll work collaboratively to break unhelpful patterns and rewrite limiting narratives. While we can't change the past, we can transform how it affects you today. Psychology sessions with me are integrative drawing from CBT, ACT, DBT, EMDR, IFS, and narrative therapy—grounded in trauma and developmental theory. There is no one-size-fits-all model of therapy so I've spent the last 20 years gathering ideas and strategies from various approaches.

Hi, I'm Donna. I am originally from Ireland and have worked in in mental health services since 2009. I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in Liverpool in 2017 and now work in private practice in Perth, Australia. I have a particular interest in trauma and PTSD, and supporting adults with anxiety and depression. I know it can feel daunting to take the first step to reach out for support, so I aim to offer a calm, compassionate, and non-judgemental space where you can feel safe to explore your experiences, make sense of what you’ve been through, and gently build the skills and understanding needed for meaningful healing.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
