Adolescents often face exam pressure, friendship challenges, identity concerns, or low self-esteem.
Sessions are tailored to each person, starting with what’s happening now. We set clear goals and use Person-Centred Therapy, CBT, SFBT, and mindfulness. For children and teens, I include creative activities to express feelings and build coping skills. For adults, we focus on insight, problem-solving, and practical tools to create change and build confidence.

You might be longing for a safe place to talk about what matters most to you —your feelings, your relationships, or how to live more authentically. Many of the people I see have had recent feelings of anxiety, reactivity, or disconnection, some carrying painful memories from their past. Others who see me are looking to build closer emotional connections, express themselves more freely, or explore their identity and creativity. Some are in non-traditional relationships and value a therapist who can meet them with openness and respect. My clients often share a hope of feeling more connected, grounded, and true to themselves.

Hi, I’m Jack. I am a psychotherapist, educator, father and long term partner and I came to this work through my own experiences with therapy. I have come to trust that both acceptance and change are possible in our lives. There are many reasons we may begin therapy; we may long for change or hope for opportunities for healing, growth and transformation. Whether there is a particular thing you are struggling with, a need for greater support, or an interest in deepening self-awareness, I can support you on your journey.

Experiential therapy can help you get back to a calm, confident self, sooner. I am a lived experience and neurodivergent therapist, trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Coherence Therapy. These approaches engage the brain's natural memory reconsolidation process, which allows for rapid transformation of traumatic memories and helps to alleviate the distress that comes with them, such as anxiety, people-pleasing patterns, physical tension, self-sabotage, and depression. These aha! moments in experiential therapy can help us develop a new relationship with ourselves and profoundly shift our old reaction patterns in daily life.

Do you wonder "what's happened to us?" Maybe you know what's happened, a betrayal for example, maybe you don't know, but things just don't feel like they used to. You might be having more arguments, feeling disconnected from each-other or resentful and hurt. Maybe you struggle to communicate without anger, or feel you can't talk about the 'big' things. Maybe you struggle with anxiety, depression or unaddressed stress that impacts your relationship. Or, maybe it is stressors outside your relationship, but is impacting it, such as in-laws or FIFO work. Whatever the cause, I imagine you just want your relationship to feel better.

Self Esteem Counsellors

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
