Navigating a world that feels misaligned with your way of thinking can be exhausting. Whether you are managing the complexities of neurodivergence (Autism/ADHD) or the weight of anxiety, depression and trauma, the pressure to simply 'function' leaves little room for your true self. You may find yourself struggling with emotional dysregulation or questioning your identity while managing the demands of daily life. You deserve a space where your experiences aren't just diagnosed, where the goal isn't to be 'fixed', but to develop a way of living that feels authentic, manageable, and grounded in your unique strengths.

I love supporting people who are ready for change - if only to stop struggling alone. As an ex-teacher and Equity Lecturer I enjoy nurturing students of all ages (especially neurodivergent, and 2E students). I have a passion for working with parents, migrant families, people of various faiths and FIFO Mums and Dads. I work from simple rooms in a community setting, or online. I can offer you a cuppa and/or we can walk in the nearby park, whatever helps you to feel safe and welcome. Individual needs are respected, I try to honour your sensory, cultural/religious needs, too.

I have continued to expand my expertise through advanced studies in psychotherapy, attachment-based play therapy, interpersonal neurobiology, and couples and family therapy.
From an early age, I have been deeply fascinated by how people navigate life and adapt to its ever-changing circumstances. This passion led me to the field of psychology, where I have dedicated my career to understanding the profound connection between early trauma, brain development, and the nervous system.

I work with individuals who are ready — whether confidently or cautiously — to explore what’s happening beneath the surface. You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, substance use, or difficulties with identity and relationships. I often support people experiencing mental health concerns, alcohol and other drug (AOD) challenges, and members of the LGBTIQ+ community seeking a safe and supportive space. My approach is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth. Together, we work at your pace using evidence-based strategies to help you feel heard, empowered, and supported

As a therapist, I understand the need for warmth and acceptance. This is the foundation of a therapeutic relationship where people can show up with aspects of themselves that are problematic and unhelpful without judgement. I can relate to very human uncomfortable and undesirable behaviors, feelings and beliefs about ourselves. Through consistent support, compassion and curiosity, positive change becomes possible.

I am an experienced trauma-&IFS-informed therapist. I work well with people who are ready to do 'the work'. I briefly bring strategies that can be useful to your everyday life initially, relying on modalities such as mindfulness and polyvagal theory, before moving into deeper work based in Internal Family Systems (IFS), if and when the time is right. I assist/guide you to reveal and heal the parts of you that carry thoughts, feelings and behaviours that no longer serve you. It is not always doom and gloom. We work together light-heartedly to safely reveal your unconscious motivations and inner strength, towards lasting healing.

I'm an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and EMDR therapist offering long-term, depth-oriented individual therapy for adults. Using EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS), I work with clients to explore how early experiences and relationships shape present-day emotions, patterns, and difficulties — and to gradually process and integrate what's been carried for a long time. My approach is relational, trauma-informed, and grounded in social work values. Alongside complex trauma, I have particular interests in perinatal mental health and adjustment to parenthood, and in grief and loss across life transitions.

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioural Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
