I work with adults navigating anxiety, relationship patterns, and major life or career transitions, particularly when life hasn’t followed the expected path. I have a particular interest in working with people whose identities and experiences aren't always reflected in mainstream spaces, and those working in creative, performing arts, and freelance careers. My ideal client isn't perfect-they've been through things, lost confidence, or carry pain they rarely speak aloud. They're often high-functioning but exhausted, craving a circuit-breaker. They want more than just symptom relief-they want clarity, connection, and a life that actually feels like theirs. They come with questions like "Is this all there is?" or "Why can't I just move on?" —and they're ready, even if nervously, to do the real work of healing with someone who gets it.

You might be neurodivergent and queer (or neuroqueer), part of poly/ENM or kink communities, or a sex-worker seeking care that doesn’t judge or pathologise. Perhaps you’ve spent years masking, managing burnout, anxiety or low mood, complex family dynamics, or the push–pull of intimacy and independence. You want therapy that understands culture, eldest daughter intergenerational trauma, chronic illness and sensory needs; practical support with boundaries, communication, co-regulation and self-advocacy; and space to rethink attachment, explore identity, and rebuild after trauma.

For those working through challenges, including but not limited to: depression, anxiety, stress and anger management, relationship difficulties/divorce, major life transitions, trauma, abuse, grief and loss, illness and major injury, it helps to have someone who not only understands your situation, but has both the personal experience with what it takes to get to a place where 'better' is an option, combined with the professional expertise to get you there.
I bring over 20 years of experience in demanding environments and over 40 years of lived experience to my practice. My unique perspective has proven to be beneficial with an incredibly diverse range of clients, from volunteering as a youth mentor in high schools, to peer support for expeditioners in Antarctica, to facilitating Men’s Groups in Melbourne.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
