I support many individuals, (children to elders); couples (new, long term - including those considering separating) and families (planning or expecting parents through to those with adult children) to find their way through these often challenging transitions.
At different stages in our lives we are thrown many curved balls. How do we cope when they come our way? Sometimes we might feel completely unable to find a way through. We may become overwhelmed and so distressed we cannot think and get stuck in negative patterns. Our sleeping, drinking and eating patterns may start to change. Our family relationships may become more difficult. We might be angry, more conflictual or want to withdraw and hide. At times like this it can help to have someone non-judgmental, compassionate and completely impartial to support us find a way through and help us develop some essential survival skills.

Recognised by the HCA peak body, I am an AACHP Professional Clinical Member with nearly six years of experience providing clinical hypnotherapy to adults in Melbourne.
My clients often feel held back by intense physical or emotional responses that limits their enjoyment and potential in life. Many come to me because anxiety or fears—specifically dental, medical, or flight anxiety—prevent them from accessing healthcare or living fully. Others are exhausted by insomnia or low self-confidence. If your "fight or flight" response is constantly overreacting, or if talk therapy felt supportive but didn't help you to change your emotional patterns and responses, we may be a good fit. I help you bridge the gap between the mind and the nervous system, updating subconscious patterns with curiosity and calm.

I have several years of experience working with children, teens, and adults experiencing mental health challenges and crises.
Your teen might be putting enormous pressure on themselves by studying for hours until midnight and still dreading tests, or constantly wondering if they are good enough no matter how hard they try. Maybe you’ve noticed that they’re more irritable, or you feel like you don’t know your teen anymore. They want to succeed, but their stress and overwhelm are getting in the way, and you aren’t sure how to help.

My ideal client isn't perfect-they've been through things, lost confidence, or carry pain they rarely speak aloud. They're often high-functioning but exhausted, craving a circuit-breaker. They want more than just symptom relief-they want clarity, connection, and a life that actually feels like theirs. They come with questions like "Is this all there is?" or "Why can't I just move on?" —and they're ready, even if nervously, to do the real work of healing with someone who gets it.

FAQ - About Adult Counselling
Why should adults see a therapist?
Adults may benefit from therapy for a wide range of reasons—whether it’s managing symptoms of a diagnosed mental health condition like anxiety or depression, navigating life transitions, coping with grief or trauma, or simply seeking support during a challenging life period. Many adults find that therapy helps them build healthier coping skills and better process their emotions, which may lead to better relationships and reduced stress. It’s important to note that, unlike psychiatrists or primary care physicians, therapists do not prescribe psychiatric medication. However, they will often work alongside prescribing clinicians to ensure coordinated care and can provide behavioural therapy as an important addition to psychiatric medication. Mental health concerns can look different in adulthood than in childhood or adolescence, so finding a therapist with expertise working with adult clients is important. Conditions like major depressive disorder (MDD), generalised anxiety disorder (GAD), bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for instance, may present or resurface differently in adulthood than in childhood or adolescence. Adult-specific stressors, such as job strain, caregiving responsibilities, relationship challenges, financial stress, or identity transitions, can also influence the onset and type of symptoms an individual experiences. Adult-focused therapists, therefore, are trained to understand these complexities and tailor care accordingly.

How do I know if a therapist is the right fit for me?
When seeking care, it’s important to understand a therapist’s treatment specialties and their overall approach to treatment . Some therapists focus on common adult conditions like anxiety or depression, while others specialize in areas such as trauma, substance use disorders, or obsessive-compulsive disorder. It’s also important to consider a therapist’s training when seeking care. Therapists in Australia hold various credentials depending on their training. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are registered with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) or the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and their qualifications and practice are overseen by these professional organisations. Psychologists must be registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) and have professional designations such as Clinical Psychologist, General Psychologist, or Counselling Psychologist. All of these professionals can provide talk therapy but do not prescribe medication. When searching for a therapist, consider their credentials and training background to ensure a good fit.

How do I find a therapist who sees adults?
Psychology Today’s online directory allows you to search specifically for therapists who work with adults. Each provider profile includes key information such as clinical specialties, therapeutic approaches, licensure, accepted insurance plans, languages spoken, and session fees. Reviewing these details can help you determine whether a particular provider aligns with your needs and can indicate whether they are a good match for adult clients.
