Male Counselling in Windsor, VIC
I am a big believer that our lives are made up of physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual pillars, and I use this as a proven model to provide my clients with clarity, positive habits and practical routines to help you rediscover your hu man potential, and actualise it for deeper connections, supportive communities, and a thriving world.
People often tell me that the reason why they choose to work with me is because they can see that they can be challenged and guided to be the empowered version of themselves, while at the same time feeling safe in the knowledge they are being cared for and supported by a qualified clinical psychologist. I have been a Clinical Psychologist since 2013 and a leadership and life coach since 2009. I am passionate about working with people who are ready to change their unhelpful stories to more empowering and authentic ones.

It gets full-on at times. Life feels de manding, people seem harsh or confusing, the hurt feels overwhelming, and the answers seem so far away. Other times, you’re left wondering what the point of it all is, and whether there is more to life. I want to help however I can. Helping people to understand themselves, navigate relationships, perceive the world more clearly, and discover meaning in life brings me great joy. Even better is helping people find their own innate resources to cope and to heal.

I'm a published men's mental health author and currently doing a PhD at Monash University, investigating how Buddhism and Western psychology deals with negative emotions.
Research shows that the therapeutic relationship (e.g., how well you get along with your psychologist) can be just as important as the work we do together. I think therapy should not be rigid and I try to emulate that. I have a very open and relaxed manner that I hope will allow you to feel comfortable in describing your situation. Pawfessor Morty (a Hungarian Vizsla) has now joined the therapy team, and he looks forward to helping you feel warm and welcomed too!

I have helped many people move from the pain of addiction to leading fulfilled and better lives.
You promised you would not watch online porn or live sex cams again. You feel guilt and shame because you want to stop but cant. You visited a sex worker recently and now you are worried you might have put the health of your family at risk. You plan to spend a short time on dating apps and find yourself spending hours on them, unable to put them down, feeling desperate and hopeless. You have an instant attraction when you meet a particular type of person, believing they are the one. You might be in recovery for alcohol / drug addiction, but your compulsive sexual acting out behaviours have increased and you feel guilt and shame.

I enjoy working with guys that wrestle with questions of life, meaning, and purpose. We all experience unfulfilled desires to be heard and to be understood. Whether it is struggling with a yearning to be affirmed, or just to be respected. At times we get caught up in a rut and struggle to break the patterns. often affecting our relationships. Some of us are bound up by unhealthy habits. Let's work together to see health and beauty take hold in these spaces.

Male Counsellors
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.
How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.
Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.
Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
