My approach to therapy is grounded in curiosity, compassion, and understanding. Rather than asking, “What’s wrong with me?”, I believe it is often more helpful to explore, “What happened, and how did I learn to cope with that?” Many of the challenges we experience make sense when viewed in the context of our life experiences. Together, we can gently explore the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, better understand what is contributing to your distress, and identify what is, and is not, serving you anymore so you can move towards a life that feels more meaningful, authentic, and aligned with your values.

I draw on CBT, ACT, and DBT to support change.
I am a Melbourne-based clinical psychologist. I work with people who find themselves repeating the same difficult relationship patterns, feeling disconnected or in conflict with others, struggling with boundaries, or feeling stuck in ways of relating that no longer serve them. Therapy can help make sense of these patterns and create opportunities for change. I also work with people adjusting to life after serious illness, injury, or hospitalisation. I have a particular interest in psychological adjustment following intensive care (ICU), supporting both patients and those close to them. I am registered with the TAC.

My approach is grounded in evidence-based strategies like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and I also draw from other modalities such as ACT, DBT, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and schema therapy.
In my practice as a clinical psychologist, I have a warm and relaxed therapeutic style. I aim to create a space where you feel at-ease and understood. I’m curious about your experiences and what makes you, you. I will meet you wherever you’re at, and we’ll collaborate to understand the beliefs, or patterns that might be holding you back. Together, we’ll find ways to help you live a more fulfilling life, or even just reflect and learn more about yourself, and hopefully incorporate some humour along the way.

You might be finding that some parts of life feel demanding or draining, especially in spaces that don’t always align with how you think, feel, and respond. You may notice feelings of worry, emotional heaviness, or self-doubt that have developed over time, often in response to being misunderstood or feeling the need to adapt yourself to fit in. You might feel worn down by high expectations, hesitant to try new things, or preoccupied with how you’re coming across to others. At times, you may feel stuck or held back by long-standing self-criticism or negative beliefs.

My aim is that clients feel increasingly independent in managing their daily stressors by implementing CBT, DBT and mindfulness practices.
I take a direct approach and am open to client feedback. I believe a collaborative approach is essential to ensure my clients are achieving the goals they set for themselves. I feel passionately about client's having new skills to learn and take away so that they can implement strategies between sessions.

It’s not always easy to ask for support, especially when you’ve been holding it all together for so long. You might be feeling anxious, exhausted, or emotionally drained. Maybe you’re managing a chronic illness, feeling lost in a big life transition, burnt out from work or study, or questioning who you are and what matters to you now. Even if you're someone who usually copes well, it might feel like things just aren’t working anymore. You might be craving a space that feels calm and affirming, where you can take a breath, feel understood, and begin to figure things out at your own pace, with someone who really gets it.

Dialectical Behaviour (DBT) Therapists
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behaviour and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behaviour, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioural change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behaviour; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
