I am kind, experienced, practical, and a good listener. I work with adults as individuals or in couples. Most of my clients are struggling either with their emotions, with something that has happened, or with other people in their life. My goal is to give you a calm, safe space where hopefully you will walk out a little lighter, with more clarity and a plan and strategies if you need them. I am a licensed counsellor and therapist. If you have a Mental Health Plan from your GP you will need a psychologist and there will be an approx $120+ gap fee payable. I am happy to work with you privately if you choose not to use your MHP.

You've been holding it together carefully. Work, relationships, responsibilities, all accounted for. But something has gone quiet inside. Not dramatically. Just gradually. You've become so serious about life that you've stopped feeling alive in it, and you can't remember when that happened. You don't need a crisis to come to therapy. You need to feel like yourself again. I'm Mae, a Thai psychotherapist based in Thornbury, Melbourne. I work with adults who are thoughtful, high-functioning, and quietly running on empty.

I use an integrative approach, drawing on a range of evidence-based therapies (CBT, DBT, ACT, PBS, Psychodynamic) and tailor them to suit your unique needs.
Do you feel stuck in exhausting cycles of guilt, shame or self-doubt, even while appearing to function well on the outside? Difficult home environments, trauma, or neurodivergence may have shaped how you see yourself, leaving you silently battling intense thoughts and emotions. Perhaps you’ve been through painful experiences that others (or yourself) might not see as trauma yet they’ve had a deep impact. Trauma isn’t always one big event; it can come from ongoing experiences like emotional neglect, criticism, bullying, or growing up around conflict. My passion is working with complex trauma often accompanied with neurodivergence.

I draw on relationship research, attachment perspectives, ACT, CBT, strengths-based and family systems ideas, depending on what best fits your situation.
Perhaps your relationship feels stuck. Maybe the same arguments keep happening, communication has become difficult, or life simply feels heavier than it once did. Many of the people I work with are couples feeling disconnected or individuals trying to make sense of stress, relationships, or major life challenges. I also work with anxiety, life transitions and questions about where to go from here. Alongside private practice, I lecture in the Discipline of Counselling at the University of Notre Dame Australia and bring many years of experience in counselling, relationship education and family support.

I'm an ACA Registered Counsellor working with ACT, CBT, person-centred, and mindfulness-integrated approaches.
Most people who reach out aren't in crisis. They're carrying something — stress, anxiety, burnout, grief, or a low-grade feeling that something isn't right. Sometimes life looks fine from the outside. It just doesn't feel that way. A lot of my clients are men who've never talked to anyone about this. That's okay. You don't need the right words or a clear sense of what you need before reaching out. I work with clients of all genders. I'm an ACA Registered Counsellor offering counselling, breathwork, and mindfulness — in-person in Mornington or online across Australia. We figure out what's most useful for you.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
