I draw on CBT, Schema Therapy, ACT and compassion-focused approaches to help clients understand patterns, gain insight and create lasting change.
Many of my clients appear to be coping well on the outside while privately feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted or stuck. They may be navigating anxiety, burnout, life transitions, relationship difficulties or major responsibilities, yet find themselves repeating the same patterns despite their best efforts. They want more than someone to simply listen—they want to understand themselves more deeply, make sense of what's keeping them stuck, and create meaningful, lasting change.

Hi, I’m Austin, I have a special interest in ADHD, chronic pain, and burnout. I recognise that it takes real strength to seek support and I will always aim to create a safe, supportive, and empowering space as we work together towards your goals. Through my lived experiences, I've learnt to really appreciate that we're all human at the end of the day and I strongly believe that everybody deserves to be heard, feel safe to pursue what is right for them, and to know that they are not alone. I'll always work with you and be in your corner with empathy, respect, and understanding.

Modalities I use include schema therapy, attachment repair, self-compassion focussed, & interpersonal psychotherapy.
I am passionate about and have experience in supporting those who have experienced trauma, would like to build healthier relationships with others and themselves, as well as those who face challenges and issues relating to cultural identity. It is my goal to support clients to understand how negative behavioural patterns and relational templates have originated, and to overcome emotional and psychological defences that may no longer serve them, so that they can actively make more aligned choices and live more fulfilling lives.

I draw on CBT, Cognitive Processing Therapy, ACT, Schema Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, tailored to what you actually need rather than a one size fits all approach.
I support adults experiencing addiction, anxiety, depression, burnout, trauma, relationship issues, WorkCover claims, and much more, whether that's showing up in relationships, at work, or just in how you're feeling day to day. If you're stuck, overwhelmed, or just know something needs to shift, I'd be glad to help.

Whether you're navigating burnout, the impact of physical health challenges, or just going through a difficult time, you don’t have to push through or struggle alone. I have experienced burnout first hand, and I understand how overwhelming it can be when it starts affecting your health and your ability to do daily tasks. This has made me passionate about sharing with people how psychology can help us to recover and heal on a mind and body level. You're not weak, crazy, or not trying hard enough... you've just not been shown any other way to do things.

My work draws on evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy and trauma-informed practice.
I am a Clinical Psychologist and Board-Approved Supervisor working with adults experiencing anxiety, stress, trauma, burnout and workplace challenges. I often work with thoughtful, capable individuals who are used to coping well but find themselves feeling overwhelmed, stuck or burnt out. This may relate to demanding roles, relationship difficulties or significant life transitions. Many are used to being the one others rely on and are now looking for space to step back, make sense of what is happening, and move forward with greater clarity, confidence and practical strategies.

Something isn’t quite right. It may be that you can’t stop yourself from worrying. Or you are compulsively avoiding things (places, people, certain situations). Perhaps you find yourself flying into a sudden, uncontrollable, panic. It may be that you are feeling down: you can’t shake the sadness, emptiness, or hopelessness in your life. You may be feeling worthless and guilty too. It could be your relationships that aren’t working (partner, friends, family, boss, or colleagues). Perhaps past experiences are haunting you so that you lose your connection to the present and the people in it. Perhaps it's all of the above.

I am a clinical psychologist typically working with clients experiencing difficulties with anxiety, mood, managing emotions, coping with stress or dealing with conflict in relationships. I enjoy working with clients to increase understanding of how they got to where they are now, reduce suffering, build skills, develop goals and meaning. Clients often come in crisis, when they have tried everything and struggled for a long time, but continue treatment long after crisis has resolved to work on creating a fuller and better life. I particularly enjoy developing a deeper therapeutic relationship and working long-term.

Schema Therapy
How does schema therapy work?
Schema therapy is based on the idea that maladaptive thought patterns formed in childhood—that other people can never be relied on, for example—can interfere with healthy functioning in adulthood. Accordingly, schema therapy works by directly targeting such unhealthy schemas, identifying their consequences, and replacing them with more adaptive ways of thinking. To this end, schema therapists aim to “reparent” the client by offering what they didn’t get in childhood—validation, for instance, or compassion—to reorient their worldview.

Is schema therapy evidence-based?
Schema therapy is still considered relatively new, and research on its efficacy is still in progress. However, some studies have concluded that it can be effective at treating certain mental health conditions, most notably personality disorders such as borderline personality disorder. Evidence for its efficacy in treating conditions like depression, anxiety, PTSD, and OCD is promising but less conclusive, and experts warn that much of the existing research is of low quality.

Is schema therapy a type of CBT?
Schema therapy is based on many principles of CBT, most notably the process of recognising and challenging maladaptive thought patterns. But because schema therapy also draws from other approaches, including psychoanalysis and Gestalt therapy, it is not considered a form of CBT. It also typically delves deeper into the client’s childhood than does CBT.

How does schema therapy work?
Schema therapy does not call for a set number of sessions and is instead open-ended, with the treatment timeline depending on the client’s primary concern(s), progress, and preferences. Treatment that lasts between six months and two years is common, though many clients will start to see progress much earlier than that.
