Have you spent years trying to understand yourself, yet still find yourself caught in the same emotional patterns or relationship difficulties? Perhaps you've gained valuable insight through previous therapy, yet something still feels stuck.
When insight alone hasn't been been enough, it is often because the effects of trauma are reflected not only in how we think, but also in the protective ways our mind and nervous system have learned to respond.

Career. Family. Responsibility.
But privately, your nervous system is exhausted.
You replay conversations.
You question yourself.
You stay emotionally alert long after interactions are over.
For many high-functioning women, this is not “just stress.”
Many of the women I work with grew up in emotionally immature or narcissistic family systems where emotional needs were minimised, criticised, or carried alone.
Over time they became highly capable, responsible, and emotionally aware of others while slowly losing connection with themselves.

Like roots growing quietly beneath the surface, I believe that healing happens when people feel safe, connected, and supported. When we feel connected, both within ourselves and with the communities around us, we can create the right conditions for meaningful and and lasting change, unfolding gently in its own time.
I bring a calm, compassionate, and curious presence and my experience in university services, hospitals, and in community teams reflect my deep commitment to offering accessible care. My practice offers a warm and grounded space where you can slow down and feel heard, and this is possible when we work collaboratively.

I'm a counsellor who has specialised in psychosexual therapy. Many of the women I work with feel disconnected from their sexual selves. They may be experiencing painful penetration, low desire, difficulty reaching orgasm, or struggling with body image and self-esteem. These challenges are often shaped by deeper emotional patterns and beliefs around sex and the body. My approach is gentle, collaborative, and grounded in schema therapy, viewed through a feminist lens. I offer a non-judgmental space to explore what’s going on beneath the surface and how these might be impacting your relationship with your body, sexuality, and intimacy.

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.
How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realised.
How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
