I help men, women and couples build stronger, more respectful relationships. If you feel disconnected or stuck and want to feel more alive, passionate and hopeful again, I can support you. I also work with people who are not currently in a relationship to break painful patterns and feel more secure and connected in future relationships. I believe healthy, respectful relationships are at the heart of wellbeing.

Life isn’t always smooth sailing. We all face challenges, emotional upsets, and moments of uncertainty. Most of the time, we manage to adapt and heal on our own. But sometimes, the pain lingers, and we find ourselves stuck, unsure of how to move forward. In these moments, having the right support can make all the difference. As a therapist, I provide a compassionate, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings freely. I listen not only to your words but also to the emotions beneath them, helping uncover insights that can lead to healing and change.

I’m Dillon, a psychologist who helps people make sense of the deeper patterns driving their thoughts, emotions, and behaviour. My work focuses on helping clients develop self-understanding, emotional flexibility, and lasting change — not just short-term symptom relief. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling anxious, disconnected, or worn down by trauma, addiction, or neurodivergent challenges. Over time, our work together aims to help them feel more grounded, self-aware, and confident in their ability to cope and make meaningful changes.

I am a Doctor of Clinical Psychology who trained in the UK and has worked in England, New Zealand and now Australia. My main interest is understanding the meaning behind an individual's suffering. My philosophy is that diagnoses act as a potential obstacle to truly understanding the reality of an individual's experience. Therefore, in practice, I try to refrain from medicalising someone's misery and instead be open to perceiving people's expressions of distress as often logical, rational, predictable and understandable reactions to some form of neglect, abuse, loss and/or trauma.

While diagnostic labels can convey something about your particular challenges, they fail to capture the complexities of your experience—no two people are alike. I will work alongside you to discover what it is that you need to live a fulfilling life, whatever shape that may take. This might involve reducing the impact of symptoms, developing insight into the origins of your thoughts, feelings and behaviour, making sense of past experiences, clarifying what is important to you, and taking action that will lead you in the right direction.

From time-to-time we all have issues going on in our lives that feel overwhelming, confusing and too hard to deal with on our own. At the same time, for various reasons, it often feels as if there is no one there we feel safe enough with whom we can share our burdens. Whether it's a messy divorce, the death of a loved one, a traumatic experience, an existential crisis about the meaning of life, or a difficult decision that has to be made - it can be hard to figure out what to do or who to turn to for guidance.

My practice is informed by the psychodynamic model of Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), while also incorporating aspects of CBT and mindfulness.
I place an emphasis on a respectful relationship where thoughts and feelings are treated with sensitivity and honesty. I provide a supportive and relaxed environment, and believe that no thought or feeling deserves judgment in therapy. I enjoy helping people with anxiety, phobias, OCD, depression, trauma, problems with assertiveness, anger, behavioural problems, and relationship issues. I hope to offer people an opportunity to understand what is happening inside themselves that is causing their suffering, to build skills to regulate anxiety, to gain stability in relationships, and to heal and unlock potential.

My therapeutic approach is informed by psychodynamic and psychoanalytical theories and practice, with a training in behavioural approaches.
Danu is a Melbourne-based psychologist who believes therapy is a paradox of acceptance and challenge. It is a puzzle to be solved with patients who have some psychic or social injury and are looking for someone to help them accept both who they are, and who they can be. Danu has a PhD (Clinical Psychology) and was a lecturer and a clinician in justice and hospital settings. Danu is also expert in psychological assessments.

She favours a psychodynamic framework, to get to the origins of possible dysfunctional patterns with the aim of improving self-understanding and growth.
Sandra is an experienced bilingual clinical psychologist who sees different people from all walks of life, as circumstances bring many of us to therapy at different points or phases in life and for a variety of reasons. Sandra’s therapy setting provides a caring, not judgemental, supportive space where people can feel safe to express themselves and their inner feelings and where the person can have the experience to feel held in an accepting, respectful and empathetic way. This catharsis provides the individual with a freedom to unburden, relax and try to find a new stable foundation for a more fulfilling future and experiences.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
