I believe that successful outcomes in therapy can be achieved when there is trust between the client and the therapist. The counselling relationship is therefore crucial to any progress made. I am also an AHPRA board approved supervisor and offer supervision to Psychologists and psychology students.

I am a Psychodynamic Psychologist which means that I believe our emotional and psychological wellbeing are shaped by our relationships. Many of the difficulties that people experience with anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, or feeling generally overwhelmed have their roots in early experiences of disconnection, loss and isolation. When these experiences are too painful or remain unresolved, they often continue to affect us long into adulthood.

We may be functional and live through life stage transitions. Sometimes we struggle with emotional or psychological residues of underlying past trauma, anxiety or depression. We all seek a safe and empathetic space to explore emotions and experiences, aiming to achieve mental well-being and emotional resilience. We want to manage overall impact of stress, anxiety, depression or trauma and seek inner peace, improve relationships, and build a fulfilling life. We often wish to overcome individual challenges so that we develop capacity for growth and positive change. Everyone deserves a chance to heal, be happy, and find inner peace.

I work with individuals (and couples) who are interested in learning more about themselves and how they can relate to themselves and others in a healthier way. We all have moments where we could use that extra support, whether it is going through a major life change or wanting one to happen. My door is always open to all kinds of diversity and I strive towards understanding each person's experiences in managing differences, that may show up as anxiety, depression, burnout, relationship issues; as we move towards a deeper sense of belonging and a more rewarding life, through practices in mindfulness and gentle self-inquiry.

I carry training in Acceptance and Commitment Training (ACT), Schema Therapy (Advanced).
Hi there! I'm so glad you're here. I provide telehealth psychology to young people, adults, and parents. People often come to me when they’re overwhelmed, burnt out, or navigating neurodiversity, anxiety, low mood, or parenting challenges. I’m known for sessions that feel relaxed and conversational, while still being honest and direct: because sometimes you just need someone who won’t judge you and will get straight to the point. My work is grounded in neuro‑affirming and trauma‑informed care, so it's very much designed for the busy and deeply feeling humans.

Beth integrates a range of therapeutic modalities, including EMDR, ACT, Schema Therapy, Parts, Mindfulness, CBT, and Attachment-Based Theory.
Many of the people I work with have spent years caring for others. They are often the reliable one, the helper, the problem-solver, or the person everyone turns to for support. From the outside, they may appear capable, independent and successful, yet internally feel overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves, uncertain of what they need, or exhausted from carrying so much for so long. I am passionate about helping people better understand themselves, heal from difficult experiences, navigate life's challenges, strengthen relationships, and develop greater self-trust, confidence and clarity about who they are and what they need.

I use evidence-based approaches like CBT-E, Schema Therapy, EMDR, and DBT with a compassion focused approach.
You're Asian Australian, high-functioning, and carrying the silent weight of family pressure, perfectionism, and cultural beauty standards. You’ve learned that achievement is the bare minimum and emotional suppression is the only way to belong. Navigating intergenerational trauma or feeling "not Asian enough" is exhausting. ' You don't need to translate your life to get help. Previous therapy felt frustrating when explaining cultural context took up half the session. I understand why you can't just "go no contact," why career feels like survival, and why shame runs deeper than Western textbooks realize.

Schema Therapy
How does schema therapy work?
Schema therapy is based on the idea that maladaptive thought patterns formed in childhood—that other people can never be relied on, for example—can interfere with healthy functioning in adulthood. Accordingly, schema therapy works by directly targeting such unhealthy schemas, identifying their consequences, and replacing them with more adaptive ways of thinking. To this end, schema therapists aim to “reparent” the client by offering what they didn’t get in childhood—validation, for instance, or compassion—to reorient their worldview.

Is schema therapy evidence-based?
Schema therapy is still considered relatively new, and research on its efficacy is still in progress. However, some studies have concluded that it can be effective at treating certain mental health conditions, most notably personality disorders such as borderline personality disorder. Evidence for its efficacy in treating conditions like depression, anxiety, PTSD, and OCD is promising but less conclusive, and experts warn that much of the existing research is of low quality.

Is schema therapy a type of CBT?
Schema therapy is based on many principles of CBT, most notably the process of recognising and challenging maladaptive thought patterns. But because schema therapy also draws from other approaches, including psychoanalysis and Gestalt therapy, it is not considered a form of CBT. It also typically delves deeper into the client’s childhood than does CBT.

How does schema therapy work?
Schema therapy does not call for a set number of sessions and is instead open-ended, with the treatment timeline depending on the client’s primary concern(s), progress, and preferences. Treatment that lasts between six months and two years is common, though many clients will start to see progress much earlier than that.
