EMDR Psychologists and Therapists in Southbank, VIC
I draw on attachment-informed therapy and EMDR where appropriate, working with building insight and understanding, shifting emotional and nervous system responses, and core beliefs.
You may look like you’re coping on the outside, while internally feeling stuck in patterns like overthinking, people-pleasing, perfectionism, or self-doubt. Or maybe you've spent years looking after everyone else, but struggle to extend the same compassion to yourself.
Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, self-aware and high-functioning, but still find themselves caught in patterns they can’t seem to shift.
Therapy can help you understand where these patterns come from—and begin creating meaningful, lasting change.

You already know what you should do. Eat better, move more, manage stress. But knowledge isn't the problem. The gap between knowing and doing reveals something deeper: unaddressed anxiety, trauma, hormonal imbalances, or chronic inflammation your body's been telling you about for years.
I'm Dr. Zambrano (MBBS, Masters Counselling & Psychotherapy), integrating medical-lifestyle science, and psychotherapy. I don't just hand you a diet plan. We uncover why change hasn't stuck, then build sustainable transformation through evidence-based medicine, and therapeutic support for the emotional roots of physical illness.

I utilise a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, such as Terry Real RLT, Gottman Method Couple Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, EMDR, ACT, CBT, and Mindfulness.
If you're in a relationship that's wearing you down, or you're out of one wondering how you ended up here again, I can help.
I work with men, women, and couples who are ready to do things differently. About half my clients come alone, they're tired of repeating the same patterns in how they connect, fight, or shut down. The other half are couples carrying years of conflict, distance, or pain. Affairs, power struggles, mismatched desire - these are hard, but they're not hopeless.
I offer a clear, structured approach to help you understand what's really going on and actually create meaningful change.

EMDR Therapists
Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.
Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.
What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.
What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimising its ability to trigger anxiety.
