I work with women who experience trauma, PTSD, spiritual injury, life transition, anxiety and overwhelm.
We all seek therapy for different reasons. Perhaps you are facing difficulties, concerns, struggling, overwhelmed, lost, disconnected. The timing may be ripe to seek therapy. I welcome you to reach out. Therapy provides a space to be heard, seen and understood and the opportunity to strengthen your relationship to self, others and expression in the world. I trust in you and your innate capacity towards healing, growth and change. I work collaboratively, see you as unique and tailor a treatment plan to suit your individual needs. I practice with an integrative, humanistic, holistic, existential and trauma informed approach.

I particularly love supporting women in identifying their unique gifts and strengths, as well as getting to know all the different aspects of who they are, what they desire, and the blockages that keep things stuck.
I apply a non-pathologising approach in therapy. I like to work collaboratively with clients and to look at their life and their challenges from a holistic lens. Clients are welcome to work at a pace that suits them best.

I have a strong interest in supporting women and girls to foster a positive self-image through self-compassion and self-awareness.
My approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, and strengths-focused. My practice is also informed by examining the interplay between social forces and individual psychology, having observed that women and girls often develop negative ideas about themselves that have their origin in harmful cultural practices, such as the imposition of gender norms.

My clients come from all walks of life: tradies and warehouse personnel, students, retirees, teachers, fellow health professionals, stay-at-home moms, career women, new migrants, second generation Australians - all of who are just trying to navigate what mental health means to them and what they want out of life.
I enjoy using my clinical background and experience to create a flexible and safe space for clients to discover and pursue their mental health wellbeing in a global, culturally and linguistically sensitive way. I strongly believe that understanding human thoughts, emotions and behaviours is a study which requires both a scientific and compassionate mind.

Life doesn't come with a user's guide and all of us struggle at times. In looking for a therapist you have taken a step toward finding greater ease in your life. Psychotherapy is about building a greater awareness and understanding of your patterns in life. This allows you to find a sense of spaciousness where, rather than act reactively, you can make more conscious choices and cultivate a stronger sense of self. If you find yourself often feeling anxious or depressed, held back by past traumas, not living the life you want, or lacking direction, then please reach out so I can support you in finding the change you need.

I am a Clinical Psychologist and EMDR Accredited Practitioner. I particularly enjoy creating a warm and welcoming space to support adults who are navigating trauma, including PTSD, complex trauma, & dissociative disorders. Trauma can be understood as any experience that left behind some emotional wounds - whether it is something that happened or something that was absent or lacking, big or small. This can manifest in various ways beyond PTSD, such as anxiety, depression, phobias, chronic pain, and more. I also have a special interest in ADHD, neurodivergence-related trauma, & neurodiversity-affirming practice.

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
