I believe that it is the quality of our working relationship that will allow you to get the most out of therapy.
There is nothing more important than your mental health. No matter what may have happened in your past, or what may be causing your current distress, it does not have to be your story. If you are feeling stuck in your past, or find yourself repeating destructive patterns of behaviour, or if you have tried therapy in the past and it hasn't helped, there are powerful therapies and strategies that can relieve your current distress and support your longer term coping. It is my aim that you leave each session feeling lighter, better able to manage your emotions, feel more positive more often, and feel more in control of your life.

I love helping people to find their inner peace, to understand themselves enabling them to live a happy life and have happy relationships.
I believe that no two clients are exactly alike, and for that reason I utilise an integrative counselling approach, tailoring sessions to best assist each client. We all need to learn from past mistakes or patterns of behavior that have caused us problems in relationships. Home and school visits available.

I form strong collaborative bonds with clients and understand the influence their past experiences and relationships have on their current lives.
I work with both individuals and couples. I draw from different approaches, such as psychodynamic therapy, somatic therapy, IFS (Internal family systems), creative work and solution-focused approach. When working with couples I use a combination of EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) and the Gottman Method.

Are you and your partner feeling more like housemates than companions, struggling to connect, stuck in the same painful cycles, or living with a quiet disconnection no one else can see?
Using relational, experiential, and attachment-based therapies, I help couples and individuals heal disconnection and strengthen emotional connection. Together, we slow down cycles of blame, withdrawal, or resentment, and build a compassionate, empathic space for openness, where both feel respected, understood, and empowered to relate differently.

I completed the Master’s of Counselling and Psychotherapy at The Cairnmillar Institute, Melbourne, specialising in; trauma & grief, depression & anxiety, relationships, sexuality, chronic pain, work/school issues, communication, emotional regulation and processing, perfectionism & inner criticism and eating disorders.
I wholeheartedly believe in therapeutic healing through safety, compassion & acceptance in the present moment. If we are in distress, feeling lost, alone, sad, anxious or angry it can be hard to know whom to talk with or, what to talk about. Sometimes we don't want to talk at all to start with and, would prefer to do a creative/movement exercise to express ourselves. Maybe we know exactly what we want to talk about and explore, maybe learning new skills to integrate into daily life. I can be there to support you, whatever stage you are at.

Perhaps your relationship feels stuck, distant or full of the same painful conversations, or you’re navigating anxiety, work stress, grief, loneliness or a major life change.
Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and the Gottman Method for couples, I support individuals and couples to build self-awareness, resilience and stronger connections. Sessions are thoughtful and purposeful, but also human. Counselling can be serious work, and it can still include warmth, lightness and even humour.

FAQ - About Couples Therapy
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
