I am a specialist Counsellor with 14+ years experience supporting women in community and therapeutic settings. Women also experience relationship breakdowns, parenting challenges, loss, abuse and traumatic experiences. These can really rock the foundation of who we are. I can help you make sense of what has happened and how to move forward with who you are becoming and what you want for your life.

People may seek psychological support for reasons including anxiety, low mood, trauma, grief, or significant life changes. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck in familiar patterns, or unsure where to start, you’re not alone. Sometimes it can be hard to put what you’re experiencing into words — and that’s okay. Through therapy, there is space to explore this together, at a pace that feels right for you.

Hi, I’m Andrea. I really value the opportunity to support people when life feels difficult, confusing or overwhelming.
People often come to therapy when they feel stuck, burnt out, anxious or unsure about what to do next. I aim to provide a space where you can speak openly, better understand what is happening for you, and work towards changes that feel realistic and meaningful.
I won’t pretend that therapy makes difficult things disappear. Instead, I believe my role is to help you make sense of them, identify what matters to you, and find a way forward that feels right for you.

There is nothing more important than your mental health. No matter what may have happened in your past, or what may be causing your current distress, it does not have to be your story. If you are feeling stuck in your past, or find yourself repeating destructive patterns of behaviour, or if you have tried therapy in the past and it hasn't helped, there are powerful therapies and strategies that can relieve your current distress and support your longer term coping. It is my aim that you leave each session feeling lighter, better able to manage your emotions, feel more positive more often, and feel more in control of your life.

Therapy can allow us to get to know, and live from, the self that guides all we want to be and guides our intuition; the self behind what world has led us to believe we are. By understanding all the aspects of being (mind, body, relational, transpersonal and contextual) therapy can help us learn how to negotiate life, let go of things that hinder us and live in a manner which is more conscious of all that is meaningful to us as individuals. In this way a person can live life to the full, in a manner that is true to yourself, leaves you feeling fulfilled and constantly growing.

Many children, adolescents & adults are struggling due to emotional and psychological issues associated with anxiety, depression, abuse and loss.
As a counsellor my role is to create a safe space for you to explore the issues that you are dealing with in your life, to find understanding, peace and resolution. If you are experiencing frustration, anxiety, depression or trauma from the challenges of everyday life, loss, bereavement, the end of relationships, or abuse, I am comfortable sitting with you and quietly exploring the emotions and thoughts which arise. I intentionally keep my fees affordable, so that cost isn't a barrier for people to access help.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
