I am super passionate about my work as a Counsellor after many years of working in the corporate world left me searching for a more fulfilling and meaningful career. I find that so many of my clients echo this search – in addition to wanting to address their day-to-day life struggles – they are searching for something more. And this is where I love to be, fully attentive, empathising with my clients but most of all working alongside them to explore ways of improving all aspects of their lives, be that work, relationships, childhood attachment wounds or trauma.

I have completed the core training in Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), a psychodynamic psychotherapy that focuses on causative factors, not just symptom relief.
I work in a relational and psychodynamically informed way with anxiety, depression, anger issues, relationship issues, chronic/persistent health conditions, grief and loss, significant life decisions, psychedelic or spiritual integration and with patients who have a history of trauma. My post graduate research was in men's health and ecopsycholology.

I work from a psychodynamic and psychoanalytic framework, offering a reflective, collaborative space where we can explore what might be contributing to distress or stuckness in your life.
In our work together, we might explore patterns in relationships, family dynamics, anxiety, depression, or that sense that something feels off without being able to name exactly what. My approach focuses on understanding not just what's happening, but why it might be happening.

I work with warmth and curiosity to help develop a deeper understanding of your concern and make sense of why particular patterns might be causing distress. I work from an understanding that many of life's concerns stem from our past experiences in relationships and the structural difficulties that are present in our society. I endeavor to understand peoples experience and distress through the context in which they live. I believe that the more we can understand the fixed patterns we find ourselves stuck in, the greater chance we have of learning to live in more meaningful ways. I offer supervision, individual and couples therapy.

Chloe’s therapeutic orientations are informed by the following evidence-based therapies: • Schema therapy • Emotion-focused therapy • Acceptance and commitment therapy • Psychodynamic approach • Cognitive-behavioural therapy
Chloe is passionate about working with highly motivated adults who are open to self-exploration and want a deeper understanding of their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and their connection to the world around them. She recognises that many psychological difficulties often have their roots in early life experiences, which can lead to recurring unhelpful patterns in how individuals think, feel, and relate to others. Her therapeutic approach focuses on identifying and addressing these underlying patterns, supporting people to develop healthier responses and break free from cycles of distress to create lasting change.

I work with adults who want to better understand themselves—especially when life feels stuck, relationships are strained, or familiar emotional patterns keep resurfacing. My approach is thoughtful and steady, offering a space where you can say the things you don’t usually say, feel what’s often pushed aside, and begin to make sense of it all with support. Some people come to explore long-standing difficulties or early experiences that still shape how they relate to others and themselves. Others are navigating parenting, grief, anxiety, or identity changes in the present.

My ideal client would be someone experiencing lack of intimacy & frequent conflicts in their relationship. Their presenting issues might involve lack of trust & unhealthy ways of communication. They would need skills & strategies to communicate more effectively & ways to make repairs after conflicts. They would also need tools to rebuild trust and foster intimacy. Another ideal client would be someone who has experienced trauma, childhood or more recent. They might experience anxiety, flashbacks & nightmares. Their goals would be to process the trauma & better manage their distressing thoughts & feelings.

I work from a psychodynamic and systemic perspective, meaning that in therapy we explore the emotional difficulties and symptoms you bring, while also being interested in underlying unconscious tensions.
I believe that a trusting relationship in therapy is the foundation for meaningful change, something strongly supported by research. In a space grounded in understanding and acceptance, we can begin to make sense of emotional struggles, successes, hopes and fears. This process often leads to a gradual easing of the symptoms that bring people to therapy, while also opening the way toward a more fulfilling life and richer relationships. I have extensive experience supporting people experiencing depression and anxiety, eating disorders, perinatal mental health difficulties, PTSD, and personality disorders.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
