Career. Family. Responsibility. But privately, your nervous system is exhausted. You replay conversations. You question yourself. You stay emotionally alert long after interactions are over. For many high-functioning women, this is not “just stress.” Many of the women I work with grew up in emotionally immature or narcissistic family systems where emotional needs were minimised, criticised, or carried alone. Over time they became highly capable, responsible, and emotionally aware of others while slowly losing connection with themselves.

For men who feel stuck, disconnected, or under pressure to “hold it together.” You may be struggling with confidence, emotional struggles: anger, anxiety, stress, intimacy, or relationship breakdowns. Some are navigating separation, fatherhood, or conflicts with a partner. Others want clarity, purpose, and stronger boundaries. You want practical tools, honest conversation, and real change, not just talking, but understanding why you think and feel this way and how to move forward with strength and self-respect.

People come for all sorts of reasons, this is a safe space for all! Some are going through something specific. Others are in a good place and want to understand themselves better, grow, or finally make a change they've been putting off. Athletes come to work on the mental side of performance. Professionals come when work has started to cost them something. Some people just want a space to think, with someone who'll actually listen. We will use evidence-based practice as our foundation, weaving in a more holistic feel so that therapy is a nuturing and soothing experience.

Are you seeking Schema Therapy so you can explore the lifelong schemas that cause stress at home and work? Schemas such as unrelenting standards, self-sacrifice, emotional deprivation, abandonment and approval-seeking undermine our confidence, our mood and our wellbeing. The clients I see are aware that they have patterns that are not working for them at home, in their relationships and in their family life but don't know how to shift them. Schema Therapy improves the way we relate and 'talk' to ourselves, which creates a ripple effect on our self-esteem, our sense of purpose in life, our core values, and our key relationships.

I work in a way that is sensitive and thoughtful toward very complex life experiences of ongoing grief, loss, or feeling stuck when life is feeling uncertain. Many of us benefit from a person to talk to, to consider our own needs or to work through priorities and how to bring change more smoothly and confidently into our life. You may want more time, freedom, to feel heard or to make sense of the 'right' next steps for you. ;You may want to feel you have work that is more meaningful, happier relationships, or to resolve current or past traumatic experiences. I assist people in a range of ways as they make sense of change.

Codependency Therapists
What therapy types help with codependency problems?
Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.

What happens in therapy for codependency?
Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.

How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?
Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.

What is the goal of therapy for codependency?
One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
