I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic therapy, EFT, IFS, ACT, somatic practices, mindfulness + trauma and attachment frameworks.
Therapy is a place to pause, reflect, and understand yourself in new ways. Together, we slow down, make sense of overwhelming feelings and repeating patterns, and explore what’s happening beneath the surface - building the insight needed for genuine change. I'm a Clinical Psychologist and supervisor, with extensive experience across public and private settings. This experience has given me a deep appreciation for the impact of our early years, and the power of human connection and growth. I’m deeply passionate about helping others reconnect with their strengths and create fulfilling, meaningful lives.

I use ISTDP (Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy), a collaborative, active form of psychodynamic psychotherapy to resolve unconscious emotional conflicts which cause everyday problems.
Do you lack confidence? Are you struggling in relationships? Whether the problem that has brought you here is something recent, or has been an issue for a long time, I can provide an opportunity for you to experience change in your life. Perhaps it has been quite difficult to know exactly what help you need, so we will work that out together and build your confidence and emotional capacity to make the positive change that you're after. My ten years experience has included helping people with depression, anxiety, family and relationship issues, low self-esteem, trauma, addictions and grief.

I work with individuals (and couples) who are interested in learning more about themselves and how they can relate to themselves and others in a healthier way. We all have moments where we could use that extra support, whether it is going through a major life change or wanting one to happen. My door is always open to all kinds of diversity and I strive towards understanding each person's experiences in managing differences, that may show up as anxiety, depression, burnout, relationship issues; as we move towards a deeper sense of belonging and a more rewarding life, through practices in mindfulness and gentle self-inquiry.

I support individuals from all walks of life who are seeking clarity, emotional support, and meaningful change. I work with adolescents and adults navigating life transitions, grief and loss, trauma, stress and burnout, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and identity shifts.

ISTDP is an active, psychodynamic therapy that explores how coping patterns and defences developed early in life contribute to emotional suffering.
In my work as a Clinical Psychologist, I value building an authentic therapeutic relationship where people feel safe to explore their inner world in a non-judgemental, empathic space. I work from an integrative approach to help people develop a deeper understanding of themselves and patterns that may be causing emotional suffering. I completed my Master of Clinical Psychology at the University of Melbourne and have experience working with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, self-esteem and relationship difficulties. My therapeutic approach is predominantly informed by Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP).

I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with over 20 years of experience in the community sector. Having worked in both urban and regional locations in Australia, and in community-based roles in the UK and Canada, I pride myself on being able to connect with people from all walks of life. I've worked with people of all genders, sexualities, cultures and abilities. Whilst working on Vancouver Island, I ran addictions support groups made up of an assortment of individuals. Homeless folks would be facing similar issues to investment banker-types. This led to me becoming more interested in the universality of trauma and PTSD.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
