Relationship troubles? Wondering if anything or anyone could help? You may be feeling alone, and doubtful - full of worry, guilt or shame at being here. But hearing more anger or blame as you withdraw emotionally only prolongs the problem & often makes things worse. It's lonely being in a relationship where the other person no longer feels 'present'. Ignoring the problems doesn't work, rather it pushes them underground where they fester. At this point you may be feeling raw, stressed, isolated, fearful or disillusioned. Tears & frustration one minute, anger the next. If rekindling love and connection is important to you, let's talk.

I bring passion and enthusiasm to my work and enjoy working with adolescents and adults presenting with a diverse range of issues, such as depression, anxiety, substance use, self-harm, mood disorders, trauma, self-esteem, relationship issues, life transitions and grief and loss. I approach the therapeutic process from a stance of resolving long-term behavioural, cognitive and relational patterns, that negatively present functioning and wellbeing. Clients will be interested in and committed to identifying and exploring underlying causes of current distress.

I have over 20 years experience using EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques). This science-based practical technique can directly calm the emotional area of the brain, so combining it with more conventional therapies like CBT and Mindfulness makes them more effective.

I recognise that asking for help is hard, and finding the right psychologist isn't always easy. Building trust takes time and going to therapy (for the first time or the tenth time) can be overwhelming. We all want to be truly seen and heard, and within the counselling space we can begin to create that. I speacialise in providing individual counselling with a focus on, trauma, drug and alcohol addiction, mood and anxiety disorders, grief and loss, and personality disorders. No matter your life story, you can come to therapy and take your armour off to begin to truly heal. Don't hesitate to call, text or email.

At the heart of my practice is a deep belief that every individual has the innate capacity for growth, healing, and transformation. As a clinical psychologist, I consider it an honour to walk alongside you on your journey towards greater well-being and self-discovery. My approach is grounded in evidence-based therapies, tailored to your specific needs and goals. However, I believe that true transformation extends beyond techniques and theories. It requires a genuine commitment to self-exploration, a willingness to embrace discomfort, and a readiness to actively participate in the process of change.

Many of us were raised with the notion that experiencing psychological, emotional or relationship difficulties meant that we were somehow broken; or that seeking help is a sign of weakness. I don’t subscribe to this belief. Reaching out is brave, and I am yet to talk to a person that hasn’t had their share of personal challenges. You are not broken, you are human; and therapy is not about fixing, it’s about healing.

Female Counsellors
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
