I grew up in an intensely creative and neurodiverse family, highly attuned to the beauty of nature, music, art and words.
While youth mental health is where I've spent many professional years, my true special interest is neurodiversity—ASD, AuDHD and ADHD. Other themes I regularly work with are relationships, trauma, grief, co-dependency, addiction, eating disorders and I can offer Faith Based Therapy.

Welcome to You are Here Therapy. Some people call it trauma. Others call it a difficult experience or a painful chapter they can't seem to move past. Whatever you call it, its effects can linger, shaping how you see yourself, relate to others, and navigate life. Sometimes it's a current stressor that feels overwhelming. Sometimes it's the past showing up in the present. I support adults of all backgrounds and genders, with a particular affinity for working with gay men. Together, we'll make sense of your story, build resilience, and create meaningful change. Your past may shape your story, but it doesn't have to write your future.

Hi, my name is Vasiliki and I am a fully registered psychologist with AHPRA and a Medicare provider under the Better Access program. I currently offer online sessions only, working mainly with adults across Australia. My approach is warm and compassionate, and I draw on different evidence-based modalities such as CBT, ACT, and mindfulness-based therapies. I believe that each person is unique, so I adapt my approach to meet your individual needs rather than taking a one-size-fits-all model.

I am a general psychologist with an MBA and have diverse experience in clinical and business settings. I work one-on-one with adults with anxiety and panic disorders, depression, overwhelm, neurodiversity, trauma, PTSD and complex presentations. I believe that we experience psychological distress when there’s a disconnect between where we find ourselves in our lives and relationships right now, what has happened to us in the past, and what we worry may happen in the future.

Life isn’t always smooth sailing. We all face challenges, emotional upsets, and moments of uncertainty. Most of the time, we manage to adapt and heal on our own. But sometimes, the pain lingers, and we find ourselves stuck, unsure of how to move forward. In these moments, having the right support can make all the difference. As a therapist, I provide a compassionate, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings freely. I listen not only to your words but also to the emotions beneath them, helping uncover insights that can lead to healing and change.

FAQ - About Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
