I love working with teens and adults who are facing challenges in their lives that they may feel are insurmountable. They may be struggling with grief, identity, big transitions or general feelings of demotivation, depression and anxiety. They may be having problems communicating or setting boundaries in relationships and need someone to walk alongside them in finding ways to build healthier coping strategies, begin to notice the beauty in life or get their spark back.

The essence of my therapy is in building solid, safe relationships collaboratively with my clients, catering to the unique needs of each person in a non-judgmental way. Rather than tell someone what they need, I prefer a merging of minds to make meaningful and sustainable differences. Together we explore resources to overcome adversity and suffering whilst learning to accept and adapt to the complicated facets of life where required. My therapeutic approach is also rooted in a deep exploration of early life experiences, with a focus on understanding and facilitating the healing of trauma or patterned behaviour.

Specialising in couples counselling, substance use, grief, and trauma I utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
If you’ve found yourself here, chances are something important isn’t feeling right—maybe in your relationship, your sense of self, or both. Whether you’re in a new relationship or have been together for decades, it’s common to feel stuck, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward. And it’s not always easy to open up to friends, family, or even your partner. I offer a warm, collaborative space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported as we work together to create meaningful, lasting change—emotionally, mentally, and in the way you connect with others. Therapy isn’t about fixing you—it’s about supporting you.

I have extensive experience working with substance use, anger, anxiety, low mood, stress and more with both men and women.
I provide counselling support for most concerns, from needing a mindset refresh to major distress. However, have a special interest in substance use, behaviour change, anxiety and stress, improving mood and emotion management. I encourage those who may find it hard to talk - telehealth can sometimes work well if you're unsure about counselling.

Whether it's the weight of anxiety, OCD, the challenges of ADHD and being neurodivergent in a world that doesn't always understand you, or your relationship with substances - life can feel overwhelming. You may be constantly battling self-doubt, struggling to focus, or turning to unhelpful coping strategies just to get by. Therapy is a space where you don’t need to have it all figured out. I work with many clients who want to change but feel stuck. Together, we’ll explore your challenges, unpack the causes, and build practical tools to help you navigate life with greater clarity and self-compassion.

Substance Use Therapists
How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counsellors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.

Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?
There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
