I use an integrative approach to counselling, drawing on Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Positive Psychology, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Client-Centred Therapy, & Mindfulness approaches.
Moving to Balnarring on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula on July 1st. Helping women move from overwhelm and shutdown to calm, clarity, and confidence. Feeling overwhelmed, shut down, or like you’ve lost yourself? At Jubilee Counselling in Balnarring (New Location)…I support women experiencing anxiety, emotional neglect, and trauma responses to feel safe, understood, and gently reconnect with who they are. You may find yourself overthinking, going into “freeze,” or struggling to express your feelings. In a calm, supportive space, we work at your pace to build confidence, emotional clarity, and a stronger sense of self.

My work is trauma-informed and grounded in schema, psychodynamic, attachment, and developmental approaches, helping you understand patterns, reconnect with your needs, and move toward more secure, fulfilling ways of relating to yourself and others.
I support people across the lifespan who are trying to make sense of themselves, their relationships, and the impact of their past. You may be navigating complex trauma, attachment wounds, family estrangement, relationship or friendship breakdowns, bullying, or major life transitions like divorce. I also work with those recovering from religious trauma or high-control environments, queer clients exploring identity and belonging, and educators under sustained stress.

The essence of my therapy is in building solid, safe relationships collaboratively with my clients, catering to the unique needs of each person in a non-judgmental way. Rather than tell someone what they need, I prefer a merging of minds to make meaningful and sustainable differences. Together we explore resources to overcome adversity and suffering whilst learning to accept and adapt to the complicated facets of life where required. My therapeutic approach is also rooted in a deep exploration of early life experiences, with a focus on understanding and facilitating the healing of trauma or patterned behaviour.

Couples often come to me when they feel stuck in painful cycles of conflict, emotional disconnection, betrayal, or uncertainty about the future of their relationship. Some are considering separation, while others deeply wish to repair and strengthen their bond but no longer know how to reach one another. I work with couples from diverse cultural backgrounds who are seeking greater understanding, trust, intimacy, and emotional security. Together, we create a space where difficult conversations can occur safely and productively, allowing meaningful change to become possible.

All of us go through a range of emotions, thoughts, doubts, and hopes in life. In the complex and transient layers of people and events, we often find ourselves in a difficult situation where nothing much we do seems to help. Please remember you are not alone and that you are not your problem nor diagnosis.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
