I work from a client-centred and transpersonal lens within a trauma-informed framework. I assist people suffering from anxiety, depression, dependencies, ADHD, relationship problems, drug and alcohol use , existential crises, life transitions, loneliness and a range of other issues that contribute to difficulties coping. I often help highly sensitive people, and clients interested in moving into truth. The therapeutic process involves identifying needs, working through fears and concerns, exploring various aspects of the self, and helping people to find their centre so they may experience a more joyful and fulfilling existence.

… Dayle currently has no waitlist… My name is Dayle and I believe that therapy needs to be flexible and adapted to your particular situation, background, potential, and that treatment has to resonate with you and your needs. My approach to therapy is to remain honest, respectful and ensure that you have a safe space to feel comfortable. I only deliver individual sessions in a Telehealth format (unless an assessment is required). The reason I opted for a Telehealth only service was to allow responsive care during COVID-19 for clients whose symptoms were made worse by current circumstances.

There may be issues in your personal life with relationships or your health. You may have a disability, leaving you feeling stigmatised and isolated. Alternatively, you may be experiencing forensic/criminal matters and you need a report for court, or you are required to engage in counselling. I have nearly 20 years of experience helping people address a range of concerns.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, tired, hopeless or lacking joy; like your emotions are uncontrollable or that they do not match with reality; that your worry is getting out of hand or that there is no longer any point, then it might be a good time to seek some support. We are social creatures, and despite what our modern society might have us believe, we all need human connection to function. Seeking support is a huge sign of strength – the strength to actually reach out and let someone in, in order to start the healing process. If you can relate to this or if you have set yourself a personal development goal please reach out.

I feel passionate about helping people make meaningful, sustainable, and healthy changes in their lives. I aim to work respectfully and collaboratively with people so that clients build their own independence and develop ways to manage life stressors more effectively, in addition to their own thoughts, feelings and behaviours. A comfortable, empathetic and supportive therapeutic relationship is also very important in my approach, and research shows that this is essential in best outcomes for clients. I generally work on a wide range of mental health and life issues and the approaches I work with are all evidence-based interventions.

Hi, my name's David. I qualified in the UK as a counselling psychologist (and I'm currently undergoing an Ahpra transitional programme as a provisional psychologist to register here in Australia). Whether you have something you wish to focus on or are struggling but unsure of the reason, we can work together to explore how to support your well-being and life satisfaction. I seek to work with each individual client, finding the right approach for each person, rather than fitting people into a predesignated box or approach. At the heart of my work is a belief that there is no one single solution for every person. We are all unique.

Alcohol Use Counsellors

Are there specific medications for alcohol use?

There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.

How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?

In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?

Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
