I draw from a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ( ACT), and mindfulness-based techniques like iRest Yoga Nidra.
Life can be tough, but you don’t have to face it alone. Counselling can help you navigate your way back to feeling better about life. I’m a compassionate counsellor with over 20 years of experience in healthcare. I understand how overwhelming life’s challenges can be—whether you’re struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, addiction, or any other personal issues. Taking that first step toward change is often the hardest, but with new strategies and support change is possible.

I am kind, experienced, practical, and a good listener. I work with adults as individuals or in couples. Most of my clients are struggling either with their emotions, with something that has happened, or with other people in their life. My goal is to give you a calm, safe space where hopefully you will walk out a little lighter, with more clarity and a plan and strategies if you need them. I am a licensed counsellor and therapist. If you have a Mental Health Plan from your GP you will need a psychologist and there will be an approx $120+ gap fee payable. I am happy to work with you privately if you choose not to use your MHP.

Life can challenge even the most capable among us. If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected, despite your strengths, you’re not alone. I understand how hard it can be to reach out, especially when you’ve always been the one others rely on. As a Clinical Psychologist, I focus on two areas: men’s mental health and couples therapy. For men, the pressure to “hold it together” often leads to burnout, anxiety, or emotional shutdown. I’m drawn to couples who feel stuck either in repeated conflict or emotional distance. I work well in complex environments when there’s a fundamental willingness to engage in the process.

Lisa is a Clinical and Counselling Psychologist who is warm, approachable and has worked with people facing all kinds of difficulties. Lisa enjoys assisting people to close the gap between where they are now and the life they really want. This may involve fostering self-compassion, dismantling a sneaky inner critic or exploring long-held family patterns contributing to people-pleasing and self sacrifice. Lisa assists people who are feeling 'blah' and 'meh' to move towards fulfilled and thriving. This occurs through reconnection to self, sometimes after years of conditioning and "shoulds" from others and society.

Camberwell, VIC 3124
My approach is warm, collaborative, culturally informed, and evidence-based, drawing on CBT, ACT, and trauma-informed care to build insight, emotional regulation, boundaries, and self-compassion, so clients feel more grounded and confident.
My ideal clients are adolescents, young adults, and adults who often look like they are coping on the outside, but internally feel overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally exhausted. Many struggle with people-pleasing, difficulty setting boundaries, low self-worth, overthinking, and chronic stress. For adults, these patterns lead to burnout and exhaustion. For adolescents, this may show up as academic pressure, school disengagement, or feeling like they don’t fit in. In therapy, I provide a space to understand these patterns, build emotional regulation and boundary-setting skills, and support clients in self-worth and empowerment.

I exclusively work with crickerers (young amateurs, semi-pro, pro or elite), sport parents, performers & sport team coaches. I help you with the psychological shifts needed to transition through the different stages of your sporting career. EG: From Semi-pro to Pro or from Pro to Elite. Before you even get to that level, you need to know you belong there. All the issues you are experiencing in your sport stem from that core issue. That is the essence of my work.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
