I began my psychological practice supporting children and adolescents, developing my attachment-based and trauma-informed approach.
My diverse experience spans schools, early childhood intervention centres and private practice. I particularly enjoy working with young adults so in addition to the private work I do at Cor Studio Wellness, I am a school psychologist supporting a varied cohort of international students predominantly from regions across Asia and the Middle East.

Specialising in high risk adolescents and adults, I offer contemporary psychoanalysis and EMDR resulting in powerful therapeutic benefits. Integrating several types of therapy (CBT, solution focused, problem solving), psychoanalysis informs my work in terms of the way I conceptualise the client's current problems and EMDR (as needed) results in a faster way of processing trauma. Combining these two therapies provides effective in-depth therapy with relatively brief therapy. If you have been suffering with unresolved psychological trauma, I can help you to overcome the problems that are keeping you from maximising your potential.

Every relationship leaves something behind: a way of protecting yourself, a pattern you didn't choose, a version of yourself you learned to lead with because it felt safer than the authentic one. You may know what you "should" do, but something stops you from saying the thing out loud. Maybe in this relationship, maybe in all of them.

Hi, I'm Jess! When seeing me, you can expect a warm, genuine clinician who makes you feel heard. Whether you are looking for support during a challenging time or wish to gain a deeper understanding of self-defeating coping strategies, I aim to provide you with a space to reflect and learn about yourself. As a therapist, I work from the belief that relationships are both the source of our deepest wounds and the space where true healing can take place. The therapeutic relationship itself can be a corrective emotional experience—one that fosters trust, empowerment, and the reweaving of secure attachment.

I offer a warm, supportive space where you can show up as you are. I work especially with men, adolescents, and young adults who may find it hard to talk openly about emotions, stress, or past experiences. I work at a pace that feels right for you, with a strong focus on safety, trust, and choice. My work is grounded in Gestalt therapy and focuses on what’s happening in the here and now — in your thoughts, feelings, body, and relationships. I support clients to notice patterns that often develop in response to earlier experiences and how these patterns can show up as stress, emotional shutdown, anger, anxiety, or feeling stuck.

If you are an adult, wanting meaningful help to alleviate suffering, be it from longstanding depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, relationship problems or work issues, please feel free to reach out. Perhaps you have tried therapy in the past, and found that, while helpful at the time, it didn't facilitate long term change or get to the heart of the matter.

While diagnostic labels can convey something about your particular challenges, they fail to capture the complexities of your experience—no two people are alike. I will work alongside you to discover what it is that you need to live a fulfilling life, whatever shape that may take. This might involve reducing the impact of symptoms, developing insight into the origins of your thoughts, feelings and behaviour, making sense of past experiences, clarifying what is important to you, and taking action that will lead you in the right direction.

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioural Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
